I regret getting a v1(or detector at all)

So far, my experience with my V1 has been negative. In the few months I have had it, I have never seen he fruits of spending $400 once. When the V1 warns me that there is a threat, I already see it. Example: I was driving up a hill and I see the photoradar van(alert goes off). I have never once been saved because of my V1 and it's a bit frustrating. Whenever I see a police car, I look at my V1...nothing. I hear screaming sirens, watch them drive by, look at my V1...nothing. My friend has a SCobra and his says, "Emergency Vehicle approaching" whenever a car with sirens on passes by. Is my V1 defective or was my $400 really a waste of money? The false alarms, the lack of detection, constant flurry of annoying beeps...

As far as I know the V1 does not have 'emergency vehicle detection'. So that's not abnormal. But I can't understand why you're not getting adequate warning. What's more likely is tht you're seeing the cops using 'instant-on' radar. No signal is sent out until it's too late. The only hope is to catch a blip when he tries to clock someone in front of you.

I assume it is mounted high on your windshield? Perhaps if its only a few months old call up V1 and have them check it out..make sure its not malfunctioning... my V1 after more than a years use usaully gives me plenty of warning (knock on wood)... ive had one ticket..and that was from laser...

I have my Passport 8500 mounted low on my windshield and it's performed flawlessly. I know Valentines are good, but maybe yours is defective? Send it to the manufacturer and see if they'll test and possibly repair.

As everybody said, if its mounted too high, the tint up top will interfere with the signal.

I personally don't think it interferes that much. I have had it mounted high on my Infiniti and no problems. (mounted right on the tint)

But, it probably does interfere SLIGHTLY. but thats just my opinion, I have no real evidence to back that up. lol.
But in this case, I would suggest sending it back and having it checked out, there is probably something wrong with it.

I have it mounted right below the tint line...

I think I will give the company and call and see what they can do for me.

question, if you V1 is hard-wired, do you guys always turn off the V1 before turning the car off? or does V1 stays in the ON position all the time, and is it triggered on or off by the ignition only?

No complaints about my V1 going on 4 years of having it. Warnings have always been on point for me. I just wish I would have had it when I got my last speeding ticket

Do a search on "V1 Installs", there is a good one w/pix that show you how to hardwire and where to connect to so that it goes on/off w/car. It took me about 30 min start to finish.

i hard-wired to ACC 10 minutes after UPS guy brought it to me I was only wondering if it hurts the V1 when it turns on/off with the ignition.

I contacted V1 representative, he said it is fine.

Police, Train, Caution, and WorkZone is another one I have seen
You have to make sure SWS is turned to ON, it is OFF by factory default... SWS is Safety Warning System

Type S Lady,

That's an awesome link, but its about $700 more than I'd want to pay for it, though I like it!

Still visible at night. I've yet to get my TL (build 22 Nov) but I'm definitely hardwiring my V1 with a remote display somewhere.
