HTC Incredible from Verizon
HTC Incredible from Verizon
Has anyone gotten this phone to link with the TL? It's not approved yet at HandsFreeLink.com. When i called them they said they had a few people that paired the phone, but more people were not able to.
I'd like to get this phone, but also want it to link with my 2005 TL.

I think Verizon has a 30 day return policy on phones. I'm considering this model too as it's the 1st Verizon offering that's actually being compared to the iPhone in all the reviews. Android is sneaking up on the Apple iPhone operating system fast.
I'd be surprised if it couldn't be paired. It's just a matter of procedure.

I have read on some android forums, as well as a post on here that it works. But I have not had any luck. My car searches for the phone, i put mine in discovery mode and it does not find it. I also tried having my phone search for the car and all points during the set-up and that did not work.
Tracking this thread in hopes of a fix. FWIW my phone works on other blue-tooth devices

Don't think I'm going to make the jump until they fix the battery life issue. Tons of complaints about battery life in the reviews on Verizonwireless.com. What kind of battery life are you guys getting?
Although you might disagree, it's the same rationale as leaving a TV on while you're doing something else. If you're not using it, turn it off. Otherwise you can't complain if your electricity bill is in the stratosphere...or if your battery life is shot.
I love reading reviews on things where the product is ragged on for something that's the fault of the user. The irony.

That's not up to Verizon Wireless or Google to fix that issue. The problem with Android devices and crappy battery life is leaving applications that continuously fetch data (Twitter, Facebook, etc) running in the background. Turn off those apps- and turn apps off that you're not using in general- and you won't have any issues.

Two of my friends have Incredibles and they have paired them to their cars, and they both get at least a day of battery life. It's all about killing your apps instead of letting them be power vampires.
I've learned from experience that the vast majority of the people who ever review things on a manufacturer's website are people who have some gripe with the product. The people that are happy with their phone (or whatever the item) never take the time to post their opinion.

Amazon.com reviews of electronics are a great example of a place where you see the full range, simply because it's such a busy site.
Finally got the Incredible last night, and had no trouble at all pairing it today.
It does seem that the battery drops quickly, but i've been messing with the phone a lot as i try to get familiar with it. But one thing that i noticed is when i go to kill the apps, there are apps running that i didn't even open. Not sure why that is...

my incredible paired perfectly with my 04 TL w/ navi. I purchased a (i think) 1750mah battery.

Hi all. There's an excellent resource over on the HTC site explaining why so many people are having problems pairing the Incredible with various BlueTooth systems. The problem appears to stem from HTC's B implementation, and is causing problems for various vehicles, BT keyboards, etc. The post begins here, and they suggest readers respond to let HTC know the details of problems they've experienced.
I'm glad to hear some folks are having success, but at least the HTC post lets me know I'm not losing my mind. I've been able to pair three other phones with my 2005 TL with Nav system, but the Incredible refuses to pair.

Perhaps the HTC won't pair because the maximum number of paired phones has been hit for your TL? I hear the maximum is 5 via a google search. For those of you having trouble, try clearing out the phone pairings of the past and see how things work.
It looks like Verizon will begin releasing the Froyo update OTA on 8/18, so perhaps that will include a better/more complete BlueTooth implementation that will help with this issue. Here's hoping.
As an FYI, I've had it paired with my TL since day 1. No issues with FroYo either.
However, those with FroYo, is there a way to use the voice dial on the phone itself and not the phone book in the TL?

Paired my Incredible with my '06 TL
Hello. I'm a new Acura owner so I'm late to this party, but I though I'd share my experience for those after me.
I successfully paired my HTC Incredible with my '06 TL. I had to fiddle with the phone a bit because it didn't appear to add the TL to its list of devices. Then I scrolled down beyond the two that it listed and there I found it. Once I entered the 4 digit code that I had spoken to the Navi unit, it synced. Now, I hope to learn if I can transfer some names and numbers from my phone to the TL.

The Inc is working well with the Nav unit in my '06 TL. Received and made my first calls over it today and it worked great. I did read somewhere though that there's no way currently to transfer the names and numbers from the INC to the Nav unit.
