Hi Level Input, tapping, and grounding point Question

Hello Acura Zine,

I have a question about how to tap into stock subwoofer wire specifically (have researched but I couldn't find specific info with photos though found TSX ones)
Trust me, I did so much research and still couldn't find the definitive answers.

I will try to ask the question as simple as possible.

Q: Which one should I tap from? Rear speakers or the sub? I saw someone saying that I should tap into rear speakers, not the sub because the stock amp will only send limited frequency response to the sub channel
and since aftermarket subs have different F.R., it's the best to tap into the rear speakers. Is this true?

Q: How do I tap from the rear speakers or sub? On internet, all I find about is how to tap into factory radio output. I saw one DIY, not for TL but TSX, showed image and it seemed like he connected wires(both + & -) from the power terminal(the steel/metal plate with a tiny hole to send power to the wire) to the hi level input of an amp.

Q: (2 questions here)How do I connect the tapped wires to hi level input without the input wire-harness?
Q2 : I have a 4 pin wire-harness and it has 4 wires in total from each pin. If I tap into the subwoofer with with a spliced wire (+ & -), then 2 pins will be left over. What should I do? Do I have to use the all 4 pins? How?

Q: Where would be the best grounding point in the rear trunk? I tried to look for the body frame with a bolt so that I can connect a ground wire, but I couldn't find a good location yet.

I'm going to do everything DIY, so if you could provide links with photos of those DIY, I really would appreciate it.

Thank you so much!

Forgot to ask.

If I add a subwoofer in the trunk, should I remove the stock subwoofer at all?
Will removing the stock sub improve the SQ of the aftermarket sub? I know that the sub-bass is non-directional and travels through the wall/corner,
but I was wondering if removing the stock sub would bring any advantage in SQ and loudness through the hole where the stock sub is?
I researched but couldn't find an answer.

Thank you for your answers.

This is for my own record and I got all the answers by trying.

A: I tapped into the subwoofer wire and am very satisfied with the result. I can control the subwoofer volume from the factory HU. It works like a charm.

A: Remove rear seats and rear deck. Then remove the factory subwoofer. It is recommended to have a Honda audio wire-harness to connect the factory oem wire-harness from the amp and connect it to the high-level / speaker level input of the amp

Q: (2 questions here)How do I connect the tapped wires to hi level input without the input wire-harness?

A: 2 Options. With soldering(no cutting) and without it. With soldering, you can either use the factory wire harness metal connect part to get connected + soldered with an aftermarket wire which will be the middle man / connection bridge to the high level input harness.
The other option requires cutting the factory wire from the wire-harness. Cut it, solder it to the aftermarket, and connect that wire to the high-level input wireharness by soldering, or taping, or whichever method you prefer.

Q2 : I have a 4 pin wire-harness and it has 4 wires in total from each pin. If I tap into the subwoofer with with a spliced wire (+ & -), then 2 pins will be left over. What should I do? Do I have to use the all 4 pins? How?

A : I used only 2 pins of the 4 pins, thus 2 pins are left hanging and I taped those left over ones together with electrical tape. Since it is coming from the subwoofer channel, you can choose L or R whichever you want.

Q: Where would be the best grounding point in the rear trunk? I tried to look for the body frame with a bolt so that I can connect a ground wire, but I couldn't find a good location yet.

A : I personally chose a grounding point where holds the rear bottom seat (10mm bolt area). Since it was already painted, I used a flat driver to scratch to grind all the paint to reveal metal bare skin. Took about 2 minutes to do it then tested the amp for about 10 minutes to see
if it gets hot or not. So far it seemed fine.
