Audio Upgrade, please comment for advices.

Hello Acurazine members.

After weeks of research and readings, I decided to keep the HU. I was planning to change it to a double din stereo for backup camera but I gave up on that idea.
Also due to having a Canadian model, I read comments that iSimple is not that compatible with Canadian HU for some reasons so I just decided to stick with burning DVDs and use cassette deck for talking on the phone lol.

I decided to change the front speakers only as it is un-necessary to change the rears (thanks to 'i hate cars'. I learned a lot from his posts and also other members (forgot his name))
and still debating on a subwoofer.

I am thinking of going with JBL GTO609C as people say it is literally a drop-in replacement. Also it is a 2ohm speaker. I was thinking of Infinity as well but some people said they don't like the high pitch sound from the tweeter though
there was a member saying that the problem is solved once you adjust the eq from the HU but no one complained about JBL.
Thus I'm thinking of replacing the stock front door speakers with JBL as well as the tweeter that comes with the system.

For the subwoofer, I am thinking of whether to do a just drop-in swapping / replacement the subwoofer with Image Dynamics' 8", kicker, pioneer, etc those freeair subs.
I read some ppl were very happy with the drop in replacement with image dynamics and says it's much better in SQ wise but they didn't mention how different in the power is.
Or adding a sealed sub in the trunk and an amp. But I m thinking of buying an amp with high input / speaker level input so I don't need a LOC. (recommendable?)
I'm actually a bit satisfied with the factory sub power but just wish it had a bit of more kicks. I'm older now and just about 20-30% more would be plenty or at least have a better SQ.
That's why I'm considering just a drop-in replacement but if you think I should add a 10 or 12" sub, please let me know. I love cinematic orchestra sound haha.

Here are questions. (I searched but I vaguely gathered info about these)
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

From my understanding, JBL speakers are literally just drop-in replacement though need to use a razor blade to cut the bottom part of the factory bucket. (saw a photo)

1. What tools will I need to do these upgrades? I only have a set of screws drivers and wrenches and interior trim removal kit.
2. Can I literally just plug and play using the factory wires / harness only?
3. I saw someone saying that it is impossible to put the crossover device on the front door due to the tight space. Is this true?
4. If I have to give up on adding the crossover device, then should I just get speakers only without the tweeters or is it still better to change the tweeters?
5. If I am to replace the subwoofer with another 8" freeair sub, can I just plug and play without any modding / adding wires?
Also any recommendations? I saw some posts and found out that pioneer is actually not a good sub according to diymobile audio. It seems like Image Dynamics is a good drop-in replacement sub.
7. If you think I should just add a sub rather than a drop-in replacement, please let me know and recommend me. I thought of Infinity Basslink as well but it was literally like "love it" or "hate it!! never ever buy it!" type of reactions.
8. Any good thread on how to add a power wire from the battery and connect it to the amp in the trunk? I saw some threads but some photos were blurred or 404.
I saw some comments saying that "without properly installed ground cable, the car will literally catch fire" and I still have no idea what that ground cable is all about but now I know that I must install it properly.

This is my first time DIY ever in my life! Excited for this small project!

Thank you for your help.

Was doing some check up on my car today and I saw some thick purple wire in the driver's side A pillar when the door was open coming from the engine bay.
I was like "Wait a sec.... isn't that.... the power wire?!" and when I checked the trunk, I didn't see any wire.

When I flipped over the carpet and checked the spare tire area, I saw that purple wire and also some other cables hidden in the corner of the sparetire!
The previous owner did a fantastic job on the wiring and hid it pretty well!

Yes, so I don't need a 8" freeair sub. I will go with a sealed sub + amp. I saw 2 RCA cables which I assume is perhaps coming from the LOC. I didn't check the passenger side kick panel to
see if there is a LOC or not yet though.

So I saw these wires total. 1 Thick Purple wire (which I think is the power cable). 1 Thick silver wire in a transparent tube (ground cable perhaps?) and 2 RCA cables in blue wrap.
Nothing else than this which means probably the previous owner only added a sub + amp to TL and didn't touch the door speakers at all.

Anyways, please let me know if I would be able to put JBL or infinity speakers including the crossovers on the doors!

Many thanks.

Another question update.

I tried searching and couldn't find it. All I got was unrelated info or DIYs without pics.

So I am leaning toward going with JBC GX600C system for front speakers and leave the back speakers.

However I noticed that the aftermarket speakers are connected by raw wires and the TL stock speakers are powered by a harness.

To use the component system, and to power the crossover first(the cigar box looking device),

would I need an adapter like this to get the power from stock wire and then connect external wires to power the crossover?

Please let me know!

Thank you
