Are you leaving the factory head unit in place?

This has been discussed many times in this forum. I personally had the same questions a few weeks ago when I caught the mod bug, so I did a few searches and found lots of information. Here are a few links that might help you with your particular upgrade.

Excellent DIY with pics from DeathToToasters (helpful for running your amp wires)

Properly tap into the wires coming out of the factory amp. Thanks to SpyFish007.

That should be all you need. Don't look for quick answers - there are none. Besides, you should be taking your time and doing your due dilligence and research before even touching that beautiful car!

One more thing, the signal coming out of the factory amp is "dirty" and not line level. You will need a Line Output Converter (LOC) to bring it back down to a preamp level before feeding the signal to your amp. If your amp accepts speaker level inputs, you can try to connect the speaker wires without it, but I prefer the LOC route. Do a search for LOC and you will find some good testimonials from members on a few different brands. If you want to clean up the signal before going to the amp, you will need a signal processor. For your install, I would recommend the JL CleanSweep.

Good luck and post some results and/or pics of your install!
