What do you mean by loading the pic? As in your computer opening the BMP file? Windows should be able to open those files by default. No extra programs needed. Some people have modified the Back.bmp files with simple Microsoft Paint (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint). I like using Photoshop.

My intention of this Poll is to see if it was worthwile to request a sticky thread with just custom splash screens people have made/found.

You can always reset the Navi. I think this hack is one of the safest.

Wow, there are a lot of people that have selected "No, not yet but I want to."

So what's stopping y'all? People in the same boat as MichaelBenz?

I love my hacked Navi. I drive around with the Trip Computer on the Navi screen ALL THE TIME!! I can't understand why Acura didn't include that in the TL's Navi software The MID implentation on our vehicle is awful compared to others. The thing that bothered me the most was not being able to see the external temperature and Miles To Empty at the same time. Thankfully the hacked Navi fixes the problem

P.S. I could care less about the startup screen, the trip computer is a much nicer hack IMO.

Would you be willing to post the bin files you use to hack your NAVI to enable the Trip Computer?

To get the Trip Computer on your Navi you use the TSX's bin file instead of the TL one (just rename the TSX bin to the TL bin) and perform the reset the same way you would to replace the startup image. I'll have to look back through some threads to find out the exact name of the bin but that's all there is to it. I'm not taking any credit for this, I found this info in the original "hacking the navi" thread. By doing this the only thing you lose is the center and subwoofer controls on the navi screen when adjusting the audio (however it still shows up on the display in the dashboard).

Here is the original thread to get the Trip Computer on the Navi (https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...t=bn2hh120.bin). Note that in this thread they actually used the Accord version of the Navi software (you will see a Honda emblem on the navi when loading). I prefer the TSX version to maintain the Acura "look-and-feel" but either one will work. I'm still trying to hunt down the name of the TSX bin file (I have it on a CD at home if the search fails me).

....and here are the BIN files explained.....

BNHH401A.BIN = 2005 Acura TL
BN2HH12C.BIN = 2004 Acura TL
BN2HN120.BIN = 2003-2004 Honda Accord (US Model)
BN2HN18B.BIN = 2004 Acura TSX

So can you have both the bmp hack and the trip computer hack at the same time? Or is that two different bin files?

You can have both at the same time. What you would do is the trip computer hack first, then follow the directions to do the splash hack and you'll be all set.

I haven't changed it yet because I haven't found an image I like enough to go through with it and I have nothing better to put in place of the acura warning.

What's stopping me is a lack of time due to school, work, and now finals. But believe me, I'll be hacking it next week when I'm done with finals.

Got my image all picked out too, let me know what you think.

Cool. The first time takes the longest. After that, its very quick to burn a new CD and change the image again.

If you plan on making custom images, do share it with the rest of the community.

SilverStoneTTL, do you like anime (Naruto/Bleach)? I will be working on some soon and will post them when they're ready.

I learned how to do mine here... Good place to learn. There's nothing to really mess up, as you can always just reload from your DVD.

I actually modified the navi.exe file to read my favorite Homer Simpson quote opposed to the nag screen...

My Nag Screen now reads:

"Mmmm, Donunts... Is there anything they can't do?"

- H. Simpson

and the OK button now reads "TL" on it.

That makes me happy... All you need to do is parse through the navi.exe with a hex editor and search for the "nag text" and replace it with with your text...

One problem I'm having though.

I'm using this rather naughty image as my splash until I can create my own.

Problem is, the image is lagging on load...
I get about 8 seconds of blanks screen, then about 5 seconds of hentai girl, then my homer quote. The stock image loads immediately, and stays on about 8 seconds.

I've checked the image specifications (you can too, above is the original .bmp), and it seems to be within specs. I have read by reducing the image by one line of pxels will fix this lag, but I have no photoshop.

Any advice? Can someone shave a line of pixels off the to/side for me?
