Anyone have tricks to save Battery with V600?

My V600 seems to need a charge every day and I think the blue tooth really drains it fast. Does anyone have any tricks to save battery juice and increase life?

The Bluetooth definitely drains it fast and needing a charge every day is consistent with my experience. Other than turn bluetooth off (settings, connection, bluetooth link, setup, power:off) when you leave the car and turn it back on when you enter the car, I couldn't find anything else to save battery.

Tip - Set up a macro key

The V600 allows you to set up shortcuts. I have a short cut to turn on bluetooth and another to turn off bluetooth. It allows you to very quickly (two key taps) turn it on and off.

Not a perfect solution - but better than the manual process.

I programmed the shortcut, but, can't figure out how to do it in 2 key taps. User Guide didn't seem real clear. Can you let me know how to do it in 2 key taps? Thanks!

I also found that having the Bluetooth always on was killing the battery.

With the V600, you can power off the Bluetooth in the settings and then each time you are in the car, you can select HandsFreeLink in the Bluetooth menu and you will be asked if you want to temporarily power the Bluetooth. When you leave the car, and the Bluetooth disconnects, its seems to power off by itself, so I have not had to power if off manually.

This has definitely helped the battery life. I find that I need to charge less often this way.

Yessir. When it's on, it's constantly looking to pair up.

same as Dave04tl

I did the same as Dave04TL. Made a shortcut for turning on/off bluetooth. When in car, I turn on. When out of car, I turn off. It takes a split second to turn on/off with the shortcut.

shortcuts

go to the item you want to shortcut.

press and hold the top middle button with 4 lines. (don't know the name of the button)

a prompt will come up asking if you want to make a shortcut. follow the oncreen instructions.

to go to a preprogramed shortcut. hit the 4 line button then the shortcut number.

the screen that i use to turn on/off bluetooth is the following screen:

Find Me
Power: click the right menu key to turn on and off
Name:
Voice Dial:

Hey
as stated before i have bluetooth temp set on so when i get in the car with the engine on it automatically connects and when i leave the car it automatically disconnects, like i hear a sound. Is bluetooth still on in my case and will it drain my battery like everyone elses?

I do and it works great when i'm in the car. Problem is, I'm not always in the car nor am I always at a spot where I can plug in a charger. When you're used to going 3-5 days without a charge and then, suddenly, you're getting less than 24 hrs on a charge, it gets frustrating. Thanks again for the tips.

Regarding the question about temporarily turning on bluetooth, unless it's constantly looking for a signal, how would it know to turn on? It's the constant searching that causes the drain, as I understand it.

I have the same sound...and from what I can tell from the battery life, it seems like the bluetooth is not active. The icon disappears when I hear the beep so it seems like the bluetooth isn't active....my only concern would be how does it find the car again if it's not active...???? The battery does seem to last longer so something is going on here.

I'm pretty sure your bluetooth is still on. It stays on until you turn it off. You can put your phone on "power save" mode, but my experiences with that aren't that great. I still find it easiest to just setup the shortcuts and turn the phone on and off as I enter and exit my car.

If you're getting more than a day without having to recharge, then it sounds like the bluetooth has been turned off. If the icon isn't there then your phone's bluetooth is off, or you're far enough from the vehicle to lose the connection. Best bet is to just turn the bluetooth on again to find the car.
