2012 DVD Map Update
2012 DVD Map Update
According to the acuranavi website,
"Important Notice: The New 2012 DVD Map Update will be available by the end of September. You may want to consider placing your order then so you will have the most up-to-date map for your vehicle."
Who's going to buy it when it comes out? I'm thinking about it but $185 is a little steep...
All Them Map Updates are Expensive... I rather just purchase a new GSP that updates it self for free or Just use my Google Maps... I don't think I will update unless I find the disc Extremely cheap which I doubt will happen
I will not update unless 80% of the roads in the US has changed completed. Which will be never.
As for points of interest, I rarely look up POI on there. I entire address directly from my iphone

theres been people that updated to the 2011 version when it first came out and people still said roads near them were still not updated
i don't think its worth it. our nav system is about 8 years old now.
nearly $200 for a 2012 disc? like others said, i would much rather buy a Garmin for <$125 and is much quicker at putting in addresses and more up-to-date

I always secretly hope that the updated navigation discs have other firmware updates to the navi system to make it run better (like my AVIC D3). Generally, any changes are minor, and you don't get any additional functionality.
I still can't see paying that much for an update. That said, I'll probably get the update anyway since I'm due for a new startup splash screen and I've been lazy about burning a dvd with a new one thus far.

Thanks, I'd like to know that too. I have to admit I'm still running the original 08 disc in my car and I find myself going offroad a little too often.
I'm going to most likely pick this up if it can fix the backwards ass navigation system.
I'm tired of searching for a restaurant & being told, "The nearest "X-place" is 900+ miles north towards New York."

I did find a work around... once... where it actually searches or sorts or something, based on where you are. It was kind of an "oh! that's how it's supposed to work" moment, but then I promptly forgot how to do it and just went back to using Google Maps on my phone, then typing the address into the nav. I'll see if I can find out what I did this afternoon... if for nothing else, so I have notes in my car for when I don't want to search with my phone.
New versions of the Navi DVD usually contain cumulative software updates for the drive which correct bugs or speed up searches-- the software updates when the Navi DVD is first loaded.
Use the "Categories" submenu (instead of entering the name in the "Places" menu) if you're looking for a specific business--select "place", then select a category, type in the name, then select "Sort by distance." This works quite well on both older and newer Navi DVDs.
FWIW, the Navi in the TL has better, more direct routing to destinations than the Garmin 1490 placed in our minivan earlier this year.

Just bought this and put it in my 2005 TL. It looked like it reset, but I see no new roads, and it doesn't display the new local high school from three years ago, or notice the extended road.
Am I supposed to reset something? It looks just like the old one.

Hmmm....something might be wrong with the disc. You might contact them to ask specifically.
You must by from the manufacturer. If you were asking about copying a disc and sending it to you, it's illegal to copy them and distribute...sorry.
Welcome to Acurazine-both of you!
I updated my 07 Navi (white disc) from the original disc to 2010 or 2011 and there wasn't any different. I called the manufacture and complain about the lack of updates and he feed me a bunch of crap about certain areas of the country did not see to many changes and of course my area (South) was one of those areas. Anywho, he refunded me $50 or $75 off the original price but in my pinion, it still wasn't worth it. Now, they offering the update for $98 until the end of June 2012.
I have the new 2012 Orange disk and the routing SUCKS as much as ever!

Upgraded our 05's original disc to the 2012 Orange and my neighborhood is now on the map along with a few other roads in the area. Routing is pretty strange and not nearly as "intelligent" as the routing in my 2012 TL. Software appears exactly the same though.
Yes, the software IS the same.
The same routing that's devoid of common sense that still takes you around in circles and out of the way most of the time. And it doesn't matter whether you set to Direct Route, Easy Route, Maximize Freeways, etc. either.
