Early grad gift.
20 y/o.
Parents just thought it'd be better for me to not worry about getting a new car when I get out of college and those car payments (so they're paying it off now).
no flames
On the downside - I tried to get a job; person basically wrote me off b/c I had a better car than him.

I'm in IT sales and make $135-140K, and DON'T own an Acura. One reason why is the attitude of many Acura owners (note, not ALL Acura owners) on display here... look at me, I'm successful, I make money... how much money do you make? I'm a MAN. Sheesh.
There are plenty of better options for $30-40K. And by the way, who cares if you pay cash? If someone bought a $18K Toyota Scion for cash, that would be just as impressive.
One guy here wrote "I feel like I have big balls and the ladies love me"... You goofballs aren't driving Beemers here, so stop comparing your Johnsons.

It sounds like you are one of those jealous beemer owners that come on this board to "prove" that you own a better car. I make six figures as well, but I didn't post on here to and put others down because they own a particular brand of vehicle. Listen to your mother and don't say anything if you've got nothing nice to say..Biat.....ch!!! Go back to your Beemer forum!

Let's get back on topic. I am very close to deleting the previous posts since the topic of the thread is " what is your occupation/how do you afford the TL?", and the poster who started this discussion, Art Vandalay, says he doesn't even own an Acura. I will leave them in for the entertainment of our members, but no more comments please or they will all have to be deleted.
And I hope the next post by Art Vandalay is much better than his first, and at least on topic.

My turn. I actually read through the whole thread, anything to get my mind of studying lolzx.
I am a full time student at a majoy university in NYC majoring in Business management and computer science and also finishing up my
certification. Work a full time job in electronics sale for a major tri-state chain and part time for the school. I also repair/upgrade computer on the side on weekend and starting up a little internet business with a few friends.
My sister help me get financing for the car, a 02 type s, but i pay it off monthly. Insurance is about an extra 3000 a year, that is actually the cheapest, i was quoted as high as 6500 a year for full coverage.
Always bought my own cars, first was a 500$ firebird and then a 93 accord for 4000$ that lasted me a good 6-7 years, last was a 89 camry for 600$ that lasted 2 months haha.
Average income is around 40k a year now. but eventually i'll make more and i am paying everything myself. Tution, rent, car payment and insurance, made a few bad choices regarding money when I was younger, reason I needed my sister to help with financing. Hopefully i will be making 6 figure when i am done with school.
This car was more of an indulgance (just wanted something nice to),this is actually the newest car i ever drove, just fell in love with the car when I saw it, was just planning to get an accord coupe 98-00. The Accord lasted forever, only got rid of it because my baby bro let his girl drive it and she destroy the car running over potholes and getting into fender bender which I ended up paying for .
PS: Actually on the lower end of the income scale so I never had nice stuff . However, there are alot of successful people driving tl, kind of made me feel like I am on the right track .

Well I think it's time for me to post my occupation since I finally purchased my TL. I have had my 06 AM w/Ebony for 2 weeks now and I LOVE it! My old car sat in the garage for the first 2 weeks because I was going to keep it but when I got in it and drove it after driving the TL for 2 weeks I decided to sell it because the comparison was so drastic. Old car is an 02 Altima, H&R springs, Injen CIA, Custom exhaust and 20" BBS knock offs.
Anyway that's off topic so my job is sales. I sell radio advertising. The harder I work, the more I make since it's 100% commission but last year I made $90,000.

Chief engineer, merchant marine. Good bucks, only work 6 months a year, the rest is paid vacation. Going to sea used to be fun, but now it's too much like a job, so I'm looking into retirement in '06.

Commercial Real Estate Broker in Chicago, I just bought and financed my 05 NBP TL with Navi in December, I use it for work so I can write some of it off but I could easily pay for it now all cash. I just choose to let my investments earn interest which easily outweighs the finance charge. I love my car, just today I had a client pull up in a new Porche 911 4s, I said nice car, and he said he loved driving an 05 TL when he borrowed a friends. Pretty cool

New to the forums here. Just bought an 06 TL, and love it. I work in sports management, am 26, and bring in about 115k/year. Wow, I feel like I just began AA classes! Anyways, I leased my TL mainly because I like new cars every few years.

I guess 24 pages worth of posts?
It's not a topic I would create, nor generally talk about. I hate telling people what I do, and never tell people how much I make. I figured everyone else is jumping off the bridge, so why shouldn't I?
