What is torque for TPMS sensor valve...

I replaced the tire 10 days ago and now the bottom of the valve stem is leaking. Replacer said he didn't touch it. Can I try torque it and how much torque to use? Edit and can I torque it at all with tire on?

You need to loosen and then torque. Yes you can with the tire on, but it probably won't help.

You need a $2 TPMS rebuild kit to fix that properly (and probably $20-40 in labor now that the tire is already on). You should always rebuild the TPMS when putting new tires on.

36LB-IN is the spec, IIRC

Interdasting that I replaced another tire 6 months ago even at another place. That one was a real vulcanizer like name of company is "Tires for less". This time I replaced it at the junkyard. But even then TPMS valve stem was leaking too after tire replacement and I had to go back. And they replaced at my request with non-TPMS valve. What is making TPMS valve leaking after tire replacement? As I understand tire replacer do not touch TPMS valve and sensor when they replace tire for difference or regular valve that they replace all time.

Well, he has to touch it in order to get air into it. So that amount of handling/movement may have caused the leak.

There is a gasket underneath the TPMS sensor nut. Eventually, it will leak.

You can try torquing it...it can't hurt as long as you stick to 36LB-IN

Rust fighting guru has deal with TPMS too. Look easy to do that trick with wood block and jack.

Went down and tightened valve nut at 10am and add air. In 4 hours it lost 15psi, approximately same that tire lost in 10 days before tightening of valve nut, so it start leaking like 60 times worse. So I had to add air again and run to same place where they replaced tire otherwise would have flat tire in morning. They put in valve without sensor. It get them to do it like 7 minutes. All good now, valve don not leak checked with soapy water.

But now you’re missing a TPMS sensor and the TPMS light will be on.. you keep half assing repairs to save a buck.

You did that instead of a $2 TPMS rebuild?

^^^ Junkyard guys said they do not touch TPMS sensors and if would go to "tire for less" would cost me 70$. "Tire for less" installed no sensor valve at another tire for me 6 months go. I can press button once to jump over TPMS message when start car no big deal. Maybe one day when will have garage will go to U-pull and bring a few sensors and do pressing with scissor jack and do sensors. From now at beginning of mn winter I'm good. Actually I saved sensor and maybe will do that rebuilding one day.

I bought these and they still work. Sometimes 1 might be slow to "report".. but they work.
