TPMS on an '06 TL

I recently purchased an '06 TL 6-sp. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me a little about the TPMS system used in this model. I'm specifically wondering whether the sensor and valve are all one piece or if they're separate. I've been told both.

I ran in to an issue when getting new tires put on this weekend. The valve stems were corroded and couldn't be separated to replace the gasket in there as is recommended. Discount Tire says the sensor and valve are all one piece, so that's what they tried to sell me. A tech from TireRack.com over on the Temple of Vtec forum says they're separate pieces, however, and only the valve should need to be replaced.

The difference in price is about $35 per wheel, so I'd like to know for sure.

Thanks!

The TPMS sensor and valvestem are "one unit" (about $40 each), but you CAN buy the TPMS valve stem only for about $8 if that's all you need.

Search, there's a lot of info on TPMS here.
