What other manual transmissions fit on the 2007-2008 TL-S?

I have a question regarding what manual transmissions fit on the 2007-2008 TL-S besides those years? Can I get a transmission from any other similar v6 honda like an accord? I am just wondering for future reference. Are those even available to be purchased for cheap to rebuild?

Thanks in advance!

J series Accord 6MT cases should bolt up.

However, the gearing is longer, and they have no LSD.

The base model 3G TL manual trans will also bolt up, but I'm not sure if gearing is different.

You said you were asking for future reference...

Are you planning on destroying your trans in the future? Or...?

I am just planning to drop it to fix it. It shifts into gears but the shift lever has lots of play. I was thinking its one of the small internal components that might be broken. Or if I could buy a cheaper one to fix up.

Keep this thread updated, if possible, I'd like to know if the 'play' is caused by the below worn internal trans parts:

I posted before and someone said something similar. I have just never tackled it before and would like to try and rebuild my transmission to learn. I am assuming it is probably what is causing the the play in my shift level.

That is generally not a transmission problem although I am not familiar with the TL manual. Have you checked the linkage?

Only one way to find out; moreover, it would probably be prudent to download the PDF service manual since it will have info. you will need.
There is one here for free if you look for it.

Yeah Linkage is fine. The shift levers on the transmission itself where the shift cables connect to have lots of play. I push it easily and it will go out of gear, so when I drive I am just careful to not move my shifter accidentally.

I know its not a transmission issue per se but its still housed within the transmission it self. I would have to open it up to see. Not dissembling all the gears but just looking for the pertinent things.

2 doesn’t move but 3 does. however, its not greatly impacting drivability or anything. It’s just annoying and unusual. Comparatively, I drove a friends 2013 honda accord v6 and it was super notchy which i feel allows me to know that I am in gear.

You can try replacing the detent springs before you tear into the trans.

OP has a Type S, how is the base model bell housing going to bolt up?

08-17 Accord has the round bell housing, and if the OP has a manual already, the LSD can swap over with the corresponding final drive and countershaft.
How do I know? I put an 3G TL final drive, countershaft & LSD in an 08 accord trans.
https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-p...-swap-1001141/

Lastly, the gearing on the 08-17 accord is shorter, due to the larger 3.55 final drive vs 3.285

08 Accord v6 6spd
1st: 3.933
2nd: 2.478
3rd: 1.700
4th: 1.250
5th: 0.976

Reverse: 4.008
Final Drive Ratio: 3.550

2nd 2.478
3rd 1.700
4th 1.250
5th 0.975
