How many of your TL-S are automatic ?

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. Thanks for reading.
I just have a question out of curiosity; how many of your TL-S are automatic, and if it is automatic, do you guys care ?
I happen to have an automatic TL-S, and I am happy with it but some people think cars like TL-S are meant to be enjoyed fully if it is manual. Thoughts ?

What he said ^

There are hardcore manual fans out there but if you're like me, I say manual goes to sports cars. Just a matter of opinion.

MT TL-S, why? Because race car

But seriously, it's just all in preference in what you like to drive. I have an AT (though it's not a Type-S) and I'm happy with it and don't regret not getting a MT. Just enjoy your car for what it is and be happy to now have a TL-S in your possesion.

most of us who drive a manual TL are life-long manual drivers. Doesn't matter if it's a sports car or a luxury sedan - if given the choice, I want the road feel that comes with a manual and I want the fun of shifting the gears myself. It's just a way of life to most of us, hard to envision driving a car that doesn't have a manual trans.

but i wouldn't care what other people think anyway.

i've actually had people stop talking to me after they found out my TL-S was an automatic. i've lost friends over it, my girlfriend hardly talks to me, it's just not worth it.

if you have the option, get the 6MT.

^ Troof.

MT TL-Ss are pretty rare, and usually fetch a premium over their AT counterparts.

I have an MT car, but enjoy both autos and manuals.

I dont think the MT's fetch a premium. I have owned 4 TL-S's two auto and two manuals. The manuals were by no means more expensive to obtain than the auto's. And besides there really isnt a way to determine that anyway except for when they were new in which case the auto's fetch a premium ;-)
But, like everyone said dont worry about what people think especially with a family sedan. You should see all the guys driving automatic Corvette's over on the vette forums... now that on other hand is a big no no...atleast in my eyes.

America is a lazy bunch -Need to be like European. Paddle shifter will be the next generation for manual shifters. The goal is to have one transmission made instead of having an auto and manual tranny. Dieing breed indeed. Live what you got. - Former GMC CEO

Enjoy your car,if you had the choice i would say manual....You don't know what your missing!.....

In the market now..6speed type s are like looking for a Needle in a haystack ...and way more expensive than auto

I like the MT transmission because it gives the car that sport feeling all the time...

Mine is auto, I would have preferred manual. I need to be able to switch vehicles with my wife when I need to get hers serviced or I need the size of her suv; and she can't drive stick to save her ass.

I wouldn't mind the AT on the TL-S since they MT can be costly when needed a clutch replacement.

The manual Type S isn't anything spectacular compared to the automatic, however the one thing that it did do that was noticeably better was fuel economy. My Type S's almost always averaged 3-4mpg better than my autos. That was with the exact same commuting and driving style and calculated by myself not by the computer.

Most of the people here will love you more :ghey: if you have MT haha

My friends hate me because I have AT and love driving
16,000 in 6 months... have to beat that
anyways

Older people call me crazy when I say I will buy MT car

but only thing I will say is... don't forget, best MT car is the car your friend has
My friends still didn't get this..
I use their cars to enjoy the MT
and
Relax with my AT most of the time in traffic

I didn't have a choice when I got my Type S, but I wanted an Automatic, not a Manual.

I would have taken a maunal TLS but my CBP was right price color and time. its an auto and i still enjoy being able to cruise in auto but then being able to play with the paddle shifts not to mention when it rev matches the gears thats pretty cool too . plus in traffic auto all the way haha. I have been driving sticks my whole life but we all know when you get older you change a little hha. plus when ive been drinking or just lazy my wife can get in and drive no problem. she also is a manual driver but doesnt mind an the TL in an auto. if the transmission ever went out i might consider a manual swap

I want a manual about 10% of the time. Just not worth it to me on a 4 door V6 luxury car. If it were a Vette or any sports car for that matter I would have a manual. If it would not slow it down considerably, my GN would be a manual.

I wouldn't mind stick with the AT especially during not know the area well and trying to divide concentration between traffic and navi direction.

I agree with most of this and have been driving manual transmissions for 25+ years. My first two cars were automatics and the rest have all be MT. Probably won't be driving MT forever, but for the foreseeable future and while my commute doesn't include stop and go traffic -

I had an auto TL-S and traded it in for a 6MT and do not regret it at all.

Like others, I have driven a MT car for over 10 years and going to an auto as a DD just wasn't fun for me so it just depends on how much you love or miss a MT car. Also, traffic and your daily commute makes a big difference as well.

Both transmissions are great, however driven both, the 6MT is more engaging and seems to be faster than the auto IMHO.

Agreed. Same story for me. I upgraded from
An 04 base automatic and traded up to an 08 type-s 6mt.

I'm sure for me it was a much bigger change since the added power of being a type-s vs. a base, but the 6mt was what I wanted more. If it had been a trade to a auto type-s I probably wouldn't have done it.

I love 6mt and have been driving manual since I got my license. I'm 22, so that's only about 6 years but my first car was a manual and I've always since gravitates towards manual cars. All my favorite cars in the past have been manuals; and those that were automatic I always wished to be manual too.

It's just personal preference.

6MT here as well.

The auto is great for base models, boring for typeS.

6MT provides awesome fuel Econ as well from a 3.5L V6....

Having said that, my replacement vehicle will be auto as it will most likely be the 2015 RDx.

I looked at 7 different Type Ss before I bought this one... I'd hate to have to go through the selection of manual ones.
