versus Motorsport bodykit

But I like what you did brigsaz, thats a nice body kit.
The Haul of a boat is designed as a solid piece first off, the second is they use allot thicker fiberglass then what is used to make a bumper. I have seen what happens to a boat when it hits a rock, rock wins, boat gets new ventilation. Have you never noticed a car with a body kit where the front body kit is all cracked on the front end? This is what happens to it when you bottom it out. Heaven forbid you fill the body lines and bottom the kit, everything goes then. I spent over 3 years doing car show, so I have seen allot of kits on cars and I have seen the results of one small mistake with a fiberglass kit. The urethane is much more forgiving. The paint may crack on a urethane kit, but not the urethane.
As for the boat, I have also seen this. A friend ran my jet ski into a rock. Cost me $3000 to fix the holes in the haul.
This would be why I do not prefer fiberglass kits. Its a real deterrent that they put "poly" in there advertising for it when its clearly not a poly kit.
The kits will look great, there is no doubt about that, but you can never count on every driveway, drive entrance or curb to be the same. So you have to be extra carefull and never get in a hurry with one of these kits. As for the paint, go to your local automotive paint shop and they can mix it based on the paint code on the car. If the paint on a car is taken car of and if the car is garaged, you will not have many problems getting paint to match based on the factory paint code.
I had a 97 prelude with stock paint that I put a body kit on, this was 6 years after the production date, and it match perfect. No blending, no nothing. The hard one to match is the WDP, but this is due to the pearl in it, if it is not mixed well before you spray it, you will have thin spots in the pearl. The colors that fade are candies. They have about a 1 year life expectancy when in the sun all the time. The anthracite should not be hard to match with out blending on a new car. I have had superb luck with getting paint from a PPG dealer. Since the PPG paint is used on most factory vehicles it tends to be right on.

Update.
Just wanted to update you guys on things...
Right now we are working on scheduling. They want to make sure they can start working on the car right away and get it off to paint so its not sitting for any length of time waiting for the next step. I should know by the end of the day today when I'll be dropping it off.
Also, as I have the aspec suspension, I will be taking measurements before and after of how low the lowest part of the factory bumbers and skirts are to level ground in relation to the kit once its on. I have only dropped about 3/4" since the suspension was put in from factory height.
Another thing to keep in mind for those of you who are low to the ground... How often are you scraping the black plastic peice under the front bumber? For comparison, I can count on 1 hand how many times I have scraped that peice.
If you want anything specific looked at or compared, please post.

Thanks for the update!
I can't wait to get this stock bumper off my TL...the radiator is going to love it.
How flexible is the front bumper? Does it wobble when you pick it up? My guess is that the side skirts are fiberglass and the front bumper is polyurethane. Did anyone think about that or just me?

fiberglass is good for showcars becasue it can be modified with filler and fiber glass to make the apearance looke perfect. But it isn't good for a daily driver, just think how many times anybody with an aftermarket lip or bumper has ever scraped, right there, that would be damage and not just where you scraped, but the panel alignment too.

I'm pretty sure it is a full fiberglass kit. It is pretty stiff when you pick it up. It has some give and woble, but not a whole lot. From what the guys are saying here about fiberglass kts, it doesnt sound like anyone who is slammed is going to want this kit? IDK... I just cant wait till its done.
I take it in on Monday!

Unfortunately it does appear to be fiberglass the more i think about it. Fiberglass pieces require more packing when shipping them while urethane can just be thrown in a box and thats it.
I guess i'll just have to use extra caution when negotiating fastfood entrances and what not.
I wonder if this was the kit that was on ebay for a while.

Some of the speedart, hamann, and kleemann bodykits are some type of blend which allows for flexibility, but at the same time they are to cracking. These pieces are all grey just like the picture of this bodykit.

I called Versus Motorsports and inquired about the bodykit.
They developed a resin that allows for more flexibility than traditional fiberglass. Therefore it is indeed fiberglass, BUT the resin polymers are more elastic, which decreases the chance of cracking.
SWEET!
Center air dam come to daddy. My poor radiator. I feel bad for it. Deprived of direct airflow.
My bumper is still on backorder.

Update!!!
Ok, the kit is off to paint. WOOHOO!! I was able to grab some pics of some modifications that needed to be done for the kit to fit right. One major thing that came up was that the side skirt tabs were done backwards in the mold from Versus. They had to cut them off and re-attach them with fiberglass. There was also one tab that was missing altogther so they had to fabricate one real quick. I also recommend adding mesh to the side holes in the front. I went to lowe's to get a sheet of galvanized mesh so they could redo the entire kit mesh so it would match. You will want to ask Versus to make sure the mesh the entire kit before sending it to you. Otherwise you will probably end up doing the same thing as I did. Will post more pics as I get them
OH! One more thing. The kit is not much lower than the factory front bumber and side skirts. So whatever level you are at now, you should be pretty close to the same ground clearance once this kit goes on.
Front with bumber off
Rear with bumber off
Knotch cut out of metal bar behind front bumber for proper fitment. This was done on both sides of this bar in front
Rear cut out in stock rear bumber for the mesh part of the rear skirt. I think it looks better this way
With rear skirt on
Rear skirt fitment
Rear skirt fitment 2
Rear skirt fitment 3
Front bumber on
Wheel well fitment
Side skirt fitment
Side skirt fitment 2

Not bad at all. I think it will look pretty good one painted. I like it!
Looking at the rear, I think one can easily modify the Aspec rear to have a cut out like that.
Can't wait to see it painted.....

The picture of the entire car should give you a pretty good idea the front bumper lines up with the sideskirts...to me it lines up fairly even.

Seems a lot of work for the rear skirt and front bumper. I thought it would be closer to OEM fitment. Glad I didn't have to modify anything to put my RonJon kit on.
Kit looks decent, can't wait to see it painted.
