Not sure I believe it. If that actually happened, it would probably get 20 mpg city, knowing Honda.

Not true at all.. CEO of Honda already came out and made a public statement almost 1 year ago stating that Honda will not produce a V8 .. they would rather create an engine with 6 cylinders that will do what 8 can do.

Notice he said proto-type.... you have to figure honda has V8 test mules and such. Those engines might not be for production ever, but a company that prides itself in making engines with no V8?

Peter, you actually believe that CEO's, let alone corporate strategy are consistent year to year? ... Anything can happen

The rumors I heard is a V8 will be needed for Honda's planned full size truck. Cars will stick with V6's aided by electric motors or turbochargers. Of course, I don't sh@t.

Don't you think Honda, one of the world's largest car makers would have already produced a V8 by now, given the fact that every other marque in its league has already done so, if not produced multiple V8's? (i.e. Toyota, Nissan, Merc. BMW, etc)

Production

Yep, they have been slow off the mark. Who knows? I'm sure they have experimented with a few. When the competition builds them like they have, then maybe the marketing guys will take over...you can never say never.

I have no doubt Honda could build a mean V8 and even incorporate VTEC into it .. however, i truly believe this goes beyond the bigger goals/vision of this particular car company ...

I'll try and remember to check back with you next year. I'm a loyal Honda buyer so I like their goals, although I'm a little unsettled about my new TL and its handling/ride characteristics with the stock tires.
