Trunk closes and latches, but computer thinks the trunk is open
Hey guys - fortunately it's been awhile since I've had an issue (that I was unable to resolve) with this car. Haven't been driving as much but yesterday I drove in a crazy rainstorm, not sure if that had anything to do with this, but...
The display on my dash shows the trunk as "open". But, I cant' open it unless I pop the trunk with the button inside the cabin. It appears to engage/disengage perfectly fine. But since the indicator on the dash shows it as "open", I can't lock the car or use my garage opener.
I tried searching the forums but most results that came up were related to the latch itself breaking. I'm puzzled by this one so any input or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
I inspected the trunk and nothing appears damaged from water... I did look at the service manual, and I'm a bit more worried now because I'm now guessing this is some oddly-specific electrical issue. In my original post I meant that I couldn't open it via my wireless keyfob. Most of everything in the service manual has to deal with the trunk actuator or solenoid failing. BUT if that were the case here (whether it's the fuse, the solenoid itself, the latch, etc), the trunk release button would not properly work. And mine DOES work. It releases and locks perfectly. The digital display on the dash just shows it as "open".
I think my issue has to be in this circuit here somewhere, as my keyless entry system is disabled since the trunk lid is being read as "open". I'm just not educated enough to read a circuit like this and understand what I'm looking at, or understand what I ought to be testing.

I'd check the "Trunk Lid Latch Switch" shown in the first diagram.
1) Open the passthrough from the trunk into the cabin.
2) Close the trunk, see if the trunk light is on.
3) If so, check the switch (momentary single pole single throw close type) It should be close (<10 ohm) when the plunger is pushed in

Well, much like half of the problems I post here, it turns out I'm just a dumbass and should have recognized how easy this was. I have had the trunk light disconnected for ages since the housing broke long ago. Never really needed it, but the connector was sitting there where the housing usually is. When I went to go look, I saw this. I'm guessing years of me constantly shoving my hockey bag in/out of the trunk repeatedly eventually tore off the connector, and when I just inspected it, both of these wires were touching. If they touched, I figured the fuse might be blown. Sure enough, I then noticed my door lights were not on. Swapped a fuse into fuse bay #6 and my key fob worked again, and the computer doesn't show the trunk as open. Thanks for the input, lol. I'd say this is solved.
