Heres how my look:

The taillight tint took some time to put on, it isn't easy. I bought the 20% ones off eBay and they were a bit big on my taillights so I had to cut and shape it out. I never had a problem with them falling off, but they did start to bubble at the edges after a while. Probably because I didn't do it professionally, but I did do a heck of a job on it. I removed them today because I am selling my TL and they stuck on pretty good. The headlight tint, however, fell off at 100mph+. I noticed one missing after coming home off the expressway. If you were to get the eBay brand, I recommend taking it to a tint shop to get them applied.

I would recommend this stuff.....

$6 per can at your local hobby shop or online. Remove tails, spray to desired darkness, let dry, reinstall tails.

I used this stuff on my Accord. Leaves a nice glossy finish. No need to sand, just prep with alcohol.

^ I agree, they make special paint for this stuff. I've tried the vinyl tint overlays and hated them, they look cheap. The paint is fairly inexpensive so just do it right or look into finding some different tails you are happy with. There are a TON of different ways to do your tails, just search.

I've tinted my tails more times than I can count. I have it down to a science. I can have them off the car, prepped, painted, and back on in 45 min.

I bought my taillight tint film off of eBay from "yesevo"...I think they were around $20/shipped. I got the 6/10 darkness, and it only took myself and friend about 5mins per taillight. They look GREAT and I've got a lot of compliments on them

Um...are you being sarcastic? ok maybe there are not a ton, but I am quite sure you knew what I meant! If you search there are a whole bunch of threads here discussing different things people have done to their tails, OH WAIT, search is broken right???? and yes, that was sarcastic!

Murdered out is the only way to go. That's the only thing I wish was different on my car. NHBP instead of DGP. I don't know WHAT I'm going to do with this color.......

yea I was being a little sarcastic...sorry. You said get the tails that you like and there are a ton of info or what ever. There are no aftermarket tails for this car so he is pretty much stuck with 3 stock ones we have. besides the clearing out of the tails the only other thing is left is painting them or film. That's not a TON of anything. didn't mean to be an asshole about it so sorry again haha
and search worked for me this morning so I guess it's back

No worries, I was over it hours ago, I just didn't like your comment!

I still think there are alot of options for tails but maybe that is just me. I do agree with the options you listed but there are many choices within those options. For instance, if you are going with the film there are many different types, rockblocker, bluebat, ebay stuff, and different shades too. Same goes for paint and so on. Sorry if I seemed like a bitch but I thought you were a little rude. Anyway, like I said, I'm over it

I got a ticket for head light tint, not sure if they would also ticket you for rear?
I ended up taking them off though because I could not see at night.

I guess for the most part tails are a different story, but who know, that drunk driver may not see 20% of your brake lights?

Check out my avatar - I bought the tint film from "evo" something on ebay like almost 2 years ago. Get lots of looks and compliments. I took them off (state trooper harassed me) and put them back on once and they're still going strong - not perfect anymore but still good unless you get right up on top of them. 2 years+ for $27 - can't go wrong. I don't like painting the tails since it's irreversible.

I have a set that were sprayed with nightshades being delivered tomorrow. I purchased them from a member here. I like the sprayed look better than the vinyl personally, and actually it isnt irreversible, all you'd have to do is wet sand the paint off if you really had to although I dont see why you would need to. The number of people that have tinted tails is faaar larger than the small percentage of people that get botherd by police... there is a very small percentage.

$27 is a good price! however, i wanted the tails with cutouts for the clear parts of my 08 base tail. i dont know if the tint shop thats gonna help me can cut it out, but even if they can, i dont think its gonna look as good as those bluebat offers? however $47 is pretty expensive IMO. theyre basically the same thing right?

Umm - I don't know how many of us are capable of or have the equipment for wetsanding the tails without destroying the lense, but OK I guess it's technically not irreversible.

Also, as the economy worsens and towns/county budgets keep getting slashed, I think police are going to be much more active handing out BS tickets - I recently got pulled over for my GReddy license plate frame being too thick.... So I think you might start hearing of people getting harassed more for things like tints, loud exhausts, tail light tints, etc... The only way I got out of a summons for my tail light tint was by peeling them off immediately (and then I put them back on later cuz the car looked naked without it). JMOH....

Actually, you don't have to and shouldn't wetsand it off, like Jetblack said above, you'll kill your lenses. All you really need is a little Oops, or even Alcohol.

I'm not a fan of the Nightshades stuff though. Leaves kind of a matte finish.

VHT is actually the best spray

Also YOU SHOULD sand the tail lights down, WEAR GLOVES, clean with alcohol, spray a light coat, let sit 10 minutes, spray another light coat, wait 10 minutes, repeat to desired darkness, then add clearcoat, let dry over night

Yeah, I mean no offense, but I tried the nightshades stuff and didn't like it at all. The stuff I posted above works phenomenal. Just prep with alcohol, and spray. Leaves a high gloss finish so no need to wet sand. You can clear it after if you want, but I never did, and my first tint job lasted almost a year before it started to fade.

I use vinyl overlays I bought off of ebay and had absolutely zero experience with working with vinyl. It's a little tricky at first, but once you figure it out, it goes on quick.

And they do look pretty good. I got a few tiny bubbles here and there, but you can't see em unless your less then 6 inches from the lights.

VHT nightshades is the best paint for the tails. I did two sets and just like painting anything else, prepwork is key. Sand them paint them the tint shade you want, sand them again and paint at least three coats of clear and wetsand the hell out of them. A little rubbing compound and a few coats of wax and you will have a smoother set of tails then your cars paint....Here is mine. Not to dark but just right...

Side markers.....

On the car..............

It's a lot of prep work but when done right, it is the only way to go.

I agree with this stuff. I've used it on my other car and it worked great. I would recommend it Over VHT niteshades. The pactra is more transparent than VHT so you can go darker and the lights shine through like stock. It also doesn't have a purple hue to it like VHT does.

ok so I kinda got this idea... I have the type s tails but am getting tired of the look. I have a RBP TL and was wanting to do a dark blue tint spray over the tails/ sidemarkers to match the headlights? I just dont know how it will look and need some advice from my fellow aziners. If I do decide to do it I want it to be either just over the chrome part... or maybe i should just make it all the same color... or maybe i should make it start out blue and where the lights are make it black or a really dark blue... I dunno!!! How would it look if the tails were just black on the RBP TL? Im needin some . Maybe i need to set up a poll or something.
