lets clear this up real quick:

some don't have it, and have scratches
some don't have it, and have no scratches
some have it, and don't have scratches

general consensus is you may not need it but it's a worthy investment. replacing tints, warrantied or not, is more of a hassle than 30$ moleskin. or as others have done, a DIY version with 3$ felt that has been reported to work just as good

^^^^^ I personally, did not use moleskin. I do, however, wipe off the rubber seal that meets the inside of the window every now and again. Seems to work for me

Some had a DIY adding felt instead of moleskin. Looks like a good cheap way to protect your tint. The scratches are caused by debris getting in along the rubber blade edge (against the window). If you can keep that clean, it may not scratch. People use moleskin or felt to be on the safe side. Downside with moleskin is the possibility of glue streaks. This is minor as they can be cleaned off easily with Goo Gone. I had 20% tint with moleskin (I installed the moleskin myself, very easy).

basically. i would rather pay an extra $30-50 for moleskin, than be worried about having my tint completely replaced (hundreds) in the next 6 months - 2 years. it's a worthy preventative measure, imo.

just got 20% tint...so far so good w/out moleskin...i didn't even know about the stuff til after i had the tint put on. i keep the rubber seal in between the window and panel wiped clean every so often, also keep the interior clean as well so that should help...hopefully no problems in the future...

Just had mine done this past Sat. Suntek CXP Carbon. I too only did moleskin on the fronts but now i'm thinking i'll get the rears done too....HP Racing (hprcustoms dot com) Glen Burnie MD did an excellent job using their computer cut technology. Film is comparable to Huber Optik at half the cost... I know some may flame me but I couldn't justify a quoted $500 bucks for Huber on the TL. Especially since I just ordered Tein H's. Hell for the tint and the springs I only spent $500 and some change.... btw nice color RRP FTW!!!!

i don't have moleskin. i have scratches.

i definitely recommend moleskin. i added tint the day after i bought my car (may 2009) and i never knew about moleskin. now every time i go in my car, i see the scratches and get pretty mad haha. i plan on getting darker tint soon so i'll be sure to add the moleskin. lesson learned.
