Throttle Response

Hello,

I have an 2007 Acura TL. I noticed the throttle response isn't as quick as other cars such as the TSX. When i press on the gas slightly harder than normal, I noticed that the car shifts its weight back a little then it goes off forward. I think it's because of the throttle response is bad.

What do you guys think?

I think you should stop making so many threads about the same issue!

The TL has a Drive By Wire throttle. Try an ECU reset to see if that will help. See post #7 @ tl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=747662.

The transmission and throttle settings are also adaptive to your driving style.

Cars downshifting so you can move faster, ever floor it in 5th gear in sport shift? I do it all the time tyring to beat a redlight, and miss it lmao

Which engine has a lighter rotating assembly? The V6 TL or I4 TSX? The TSX should be revving up quicker. Which car is lighter? The one time I drove a TSX it did feel a bit peppier but was not faster.

If it shifts weight back right when you hit the gas it's not a throttle response issue. The weight shift is caused by acceleration which can happen unless the throttle has opened. Could be a broken mount giving that perception.

Depends on engine output, the power to rotating mass ratio. I've had my turbo car running with only the flex plate, no torque converter. It revved like an Indy car, almost instantly to the limiter and just as quick back to idle. Normally it's a little lazy on the revving.

But that's not throttle response. Throttle response is the time it takes the engine respond to throttle input from the driver. I've found the TL to be one of the quickest DBW cars around though I definitely prefer cable throttle.

I think i will reset the ECU. Any of you get a quicker response by doing this?

And having the weight shift back a little before it zooms off is not the throttle response? Is there any way of making the car not shift back?

Weight shift is suspension. Throttle response is the time from when you hit the gas until something happens. Sit in the car with the door open. Smack the pedal to the floor real quick and listen for that initial air sound as the throttle opens. You'll hear the engine respond a split second later.

The ECU reset just makes the car feel a little lighter on its feet, nothing dramatic. The autos have an adaptive transmission and it just erases/resets the data on your driving habbits, so the effect dosent last.

I am talking about the weight of the car shifts back a slight bit just before it accelerates up. Anything i can do to prevent the weight shifting?

You need a stiff suspension.

In the service manual, the only mentioned ECU reset method is plugging in an HDS to the car and using it to reset it. Nowhere does it mention using the pedals for the reset. Has anyone confirmed this 100%?

Are you talking about when youaccelerate from a dead stop? What about when you change gears in SS do you feelthe same thing? It sounds to me like the car a is just accelerating.

The only time I feel a huge shift is when I change gears at Mid range RPM using SS.

An upgraded intake & exhaust couldn't hurt either.

The OP is mistaking weight transfer for throttle response. He claims the car is rocking back before taking off. While its the initial acceleration or forward motion that causes this, I guess it could be perceived as a hesitation somehow. Stiffening the suspension will stop it from rocking back as much.
