They do make you more visible.. if someone is passing me on a 2 lane road and they have DRLs or headlights on it's more obvious that 1) the car is coming and 2) it's coming at you head on. It also helps during that early morning or early evening time when people THINK they don't need their lights on but it does help
Point is.. it doesn't hurt you at all; it does make you more apparent.. but this isn't a discussion about that -_-
It's the same reason trucks beep when they backup.. it's obvious we shouldn't need that, because people should be smarter, but it's an added safety feature that gives a better warning that just throwing the shit in reverse and going for it.

And what the heck would be the point of having Bi-Xenons and then DRL Xenons?
For those who flat out hate the DRLs just turn on your headlights. They go off automatically.

But I do hate this trend towards super-bright, highly focused headlights that are pretty much standard issue now, and seemingly highly desirable and 'cool'. Oncoming vehicles (on un-divided roads) that have them blind me. I know they are generally focused to be below my line of sight, but when the oncoming car goes over bumps, they point up and blind. I'm hoping this trend dies out the way pop-up headlights did some time ago! Actually, the worst ones are those that are self-installed by kids who don't even bother to adjust them correctly, and ... of course ... have super stiff suspensions to go along with it, so the car bounces and shakes along, blinding everyone for miles around!

If the HID setup is aimed correctly then they should not blind you; however when someone goes onto eBay and buys an HID kit for their 89 accord and they're shooting into space you run into problems.
There is no standard in the US right now for HID lights; Europe restricts them I believe - they all require a washing system (dirt on the lense can cause light to not distribute properly and irritate other drivers) and the self leveling system to help counter blinding people when you hit a bump or something
The only ones that are annoying to me are the HID conversion kits that are put into housings designed for halogen setups, and using the incorrect bulb (the one w/o the built in cutoff).
But back to DRLs

This is merely a suggestion for those whom dislike DRLs because of the yellowish tint; not because people driving their car are irritated that lights are on (That they can't see.. and that doesn't impact performance)

I read a thread before about someone trying to put in a LED bulb for DRL. Basically a person says because the LED operates at such a low voltage, our car will think our DRLs are burnt, so we'll see a DRL warning light on the dash. The bulbs are automatically shut off too.
I would want to see how things turn out when people put in the LED bulbs for their DRL.

Swapping halogen bulbs may not make a difference; but swapping in an LED cluster bulb will.

I would think that is taken into account before this product is produced - otherwise people would be sending them back.. I would hope these have something integrated like the balancer people put on when converting turn signals to LEDs
The 07 DRLs are only on when the headlights are off; they will not come on for any other reason than the headlights being off, correct?
Are you sure they are not getting +12v?

So is there a solution? Anyone tried LEDs successfully? I don't mind the DRLs, I just mind the yellow hue.

Know what you mean TeknoKing,
Can't believe the interest dropped for this topic.
Come on you guys, post up some pictures of the super white DRL's.
Now that I've done my fogs in artic white, the next thing to tackle are those fugly yellow hue DRL's.

ONe guy in the RL forum bypassed his and has no error light by using a relay. On the RL, the highbeam is the DRL, and the highbeam still functions properly.

Do we know what the OEM HB3/9005 bulbs wattage and Kelvin is?
Is the bulb for an 07 the ninety degree model?
I found these 60 or 65 watt ones:
Philips Blue Vision 9005 (HB3)
# New and improved - UltraBlue
# 4000K Colour Temperature
# Distinctive daylight from blue lamp

Maybe even better:

60W is stock for the DRL, IIRC
Thing is that Philips bulb is not an LED so the it won't light it up to full power --> piss yellow DRL.
The LED doesn't need as much power, so you get the "Bright White" (6000K - 7000K) color at the supplied voltage.

Way to be the Guinea Pig.
Post back with results and pics. I am optimistic. Will look at getting these in the spring pending your result.
And please, if they don't work (fit, color, whatever) let us know so we don't waste time on 'em later. thumbsup:

Wow, this thread is alive again. I went the easy way out and just pulled the fuse. After a couple days you dont even notice the DRL light anymore.
Hopefully someone finds something that either looks good or doesnt make the DRL light come on.

I don't know about you guys but bright lights don't always look good because everyone is going for those. I like something unique. I have seen a TL on the road with Blue/Purple coloured DRL's and it really looked sick. BTW it was also a blue coloured TL 03 Type S so it looked even better.

Looking for new mods
yeah..I understand we like to be different.... but the stock yellow piss bulbs dont look hot, and these purple end up looking pink... I dont want a barbie edition TL..... The Leds will be next. Different colors can be ilegal in NY. So i am pretty limited.

One option is to pull the fuse and put in angel eyes like I did .. but I would love to have that DRL light go away because people always ask what its for

The only thing i think they are good for is , they save me money on my insurance.... I think they were made for those people who forget to turn on their lights at night... I have automatic..... also when driving in dark under path in the city.....my light come on there too..

speaking off, is there anyway we can adjust the sensitivity on auto headlights?
freaken lights will go on when there is only no light at all, like at night or in my garage.
In my infiniti when it was very cloudy or rainy the lights will always go on, it had the sensitivity setting which you could adjust.
