These are gonna look crazy on my anthracite.

I have a question.....Did you have to remove the bumper to take the tail lights out??

I want it?

I want this done!

I was behind an infinity FX35 the other day and noticed that the rear lights were "blacked out", much ths same as this, but when she hit the brakes, they lit up "led red". It was pretty sweet and I was wondering if we could accomplish something like that.

This is gonna look soooo hot on your color! I can't wait to see the final results. This is a MUCH better look than film covers; like no doubt about it (IMO).

Thanks everybody for all the good feedback. It makes me feel a little better about all the time spent on these. They should by on the ride by the end of next week. Im just waiting for the rear side markers, and some LED bulbs for the turn signals. I already signed up for the Chicago meet.

Damn that looks good. That look would be the only reason I get rid of the solid red tails.

i know you have DIY or a bunch of threads that could help someone to do it, but i think if you became a vendor or did some of these during your free time for members... you'd make a lot of extra money because i'd be interested

There has to be an aftermarket company out there who'd be willing to produce a product like these. Then again, would there be enough demand for someone to consider making them.

I'm sure there is sufficient demand, although many TL drivers (probably the vast majority, but that's only a guess) are at an age where they're not interested in modifiying their cars so significantly, if at all.

On that note, If only there was a company that manufactured the cleared out headlights. People would snatch those up so quickly it would make heads spin.

but with any nice car, as the model years go by, they become more affordable. I bet you around 2010 the 3G TL will be every 17-21 year olds car. I mean look at the 2G TL's......alot of young kids drive them now. My younger brother is 19 and 4 of his friends have 2G TL's.

Yeah I've considered doing these as vendor, but it would be very costly. I'm one of those people that works very carefully or in a better word ....... slow.

(2 sets of taillights) + (paint and sealant) + (shipping both ways) + (my labor) + (vendor fee) = some expensive f@#k!ng taillights lol

I don't mean to sound blunt or anything. I just don't think it would be possible. After everythings is done though, I will try to put together a pretty comprehensive DIY.

thanks and as more people do this mod, more and more DIY/tips will come out and this mod should get easier and easier, as did the headlight clearing mod has gone through this phase....

thanks again !!!

and i look foward to this.

i was just wondering, if we could do anything that looks close to this moded tailight with just 1 tailight (whether it is the 04-06 taillight or the 07 taillight)

No way you can do this with 04-06 tails, natively.
It's the front clear lens that you need... and those only come 2007s. You could buy a sinngle set of those and hack em up though.

its probably not gonna be cheap. like they mentioned, 2 sets of light. the clear lense on the 07 lights, and the backing of the 04 - 06 lights. if he was to do this, and sell.. expect it to be > = $500

Now if you could just put in a custom LED board into the sides with some amber LEDs ala BMW E46 3-series.....you my friend would have the best set of tail-lights anyone has seen!

But then again if u have to go to the drawing board again you'll have us drooling for weeks to come.
