Swapping Out Carpet - Need Advice!

Alright, so I have an AM with camel interior. I love the color combo, looks great, and I dont think many have it. One downside is that the carpeting gets pretty dirty pretty easy. I already have Xact mats on my mats themselves, but around the mats have been getting worse and worse, and are not helped with getting them cleaned professionally. I woul dlike to swap out the carpet all together. I know that i would have to remove the seats, along with the console, but what else is involved?

I am assuiming I can just get the correct carpeting from the dealer, or oemacuraprts.com - so fitment wouldnt be an issue. I know I saw a thread at one point about someone changing there light colored mats to darker collored ones, but I cannot find it now. If there was a DIY that would be fabulous. FYI my car has 62,000 miles on it, with navi and is in prestine condition, minus the carpets!

Thanks!!

Depending on your level of skill this can take a couple hours to who knows how long. In my last car I could have the entire interior out on the floor and back into the car in 2hrs or less. If I had to guess for myself for TL carpet removal, I would give myself at least a few hours.

before you swap carpets make sure you lay the new one out in the sun so it can warm up nicely and become more compliant

3 - 4 hours at most...it's a bit more of a PITA throughout the middle as it's anchored in several places.

I have contemplated doing the same thing for my parchment interior. The back seat hump looks bad and I have tried cleaning it a couple of times with no success. I did a google and there are threads on dying your carpets. This may be a good option for me because my carpet is in good shape minus the stains. You can buy carpets online at acuraoemparts and I recall the price is about $500 total for the complete set. I was going to get the black carpets before I stumbled on the dye idea.

Thank you for all the great replies...They will deffinitly help big time.

One last thing - when I called my local dealer, they gave me some BS about how when I unhook the seats, it will throw a code related to the SRS system, and I will have to get the whole system reset. Keep in mind, this same dealer said it was an 800 dollar job , and involved using tools that only an Acura dealer has (COMPLETE bs). After practicly laughing at the guy on the phone, I began to think that maybe it made some sense that the sensors would have to be reset after unhooking the wiring harnesses and so forth. Any insight into this? Particularly by anyone who has unplugged their seats before?

Turn the car off, disconnect the battery...WAIT AT LEAST 10 MINUTES. Then proceed as normal.

True. I remember reading this somewhere before. Wait 10 minutes before unplugging the seats to avoid throwing a SRS warning light.

Worst case, you can just disconnect the battery to reset the computers (SRS computer and ECU).

Dunno how I feel about dying the carpets. Pretty sure they would probably fade pretty quickly... Anyone tried it?
