Story time!!!

Well it has been an interesting last 3 weeks for my TL-S and I and I thought I'd share the story now that just about everything is resolved.

I decided around May 12th I had had enough of the tear in my drivers seat and headed over to oemacuraparts.com and found the cover (FOR $400 less than what the local Dealership here wanted to charge me no less) and placed the order. Acura of Peoria, you guys ROCK!

That same week, I also decided that the bubbling tint on my rear windshield, well, it was time for that to go and to get the car tinted the way I wanted it so I went in on a Thursday to the same place I took my 06 base to to have the windows redone. I sat and hung out with some pretty cool customers who were also getting work done on their cars as well. The removal process and re-tint took 9 hours but they did an excellent job and the car looked spectacular.

After speaking with the co-owner most of the day, I find out that they do installations of accessories as well so I decided to (finally) get my BlackVue DR550GW-2CH installed at the shop as well since they quoted lower than the chain and other local shops and I decide to make an appointment for the following Wednesday to have it installed.

Flash forward to Saturday, 2 days after I got the Tint done, I'm getting stuff into the car to go to a BBQ and I open up the back door to put a bag chair on the back floorboards and there is a MASSIVE hole in the leather that wasn't there Thursday when I turned over the keys.

Needless to say I was pissed because the guys didn't say anything to me. So I call them up and after a brief phone conversation he admitted fault. His argument was that he didn't know it was there and since I (stupidly) left the garage without looking in the back of the car he assumed it was always there. He gave me a story about how people had tried to rip him off before and I understood where he was coming from. He said he would make it right. I had an appointment to have them install the Dashcam so I said we'd get this all squared away then.

Now I know you all are like "Wait, what? You kept the appointment to have them do the dash cam after they ruined your seat? Are you nuts? I would have [insert angry revenge fantasy here]" I wanted to, believe me, but when it comes down to it, everyone is human. Everyone makes mistakes and, aside from the seat issue, they did an amazing job with the tint. Plus I had the guy's word that they would fix the seat free of charge and also, his co-owner had promised me that the front windshield tint would be free because they took so long to do the car.

The following Tuesday, I hit a milestone.

Story time!!!-tp2qrht.jpg

Needless to say, super excited. I bought the car with 88k on it last June and hopefully this is just the beginning of another 200k.

So Wednesday appointment rolls around for the Dashcam install, the guy comes out and we talk and he's super apologetic about how long it took to do the car, how the hole happened and how they were going to fix it no charge to me. This was exactly what I wanted to hear. Being cool and calm throughout the situation I think is what made this go so smoothly. Sure I could have lost my shit and yelled and screamed but then I would have had a shitty time getting them to make it right. It would have been counter intuitive and, today, I likely would still have a major issue in my backseat.

So the Dashcam gets installed and let me tell you, it...is...awesome. I will always drive with one in my car now. I had it installed with the Power Magic Pro. I hoped to have some interesting video for you guys but I don't have anything...yet. I'll write up a full review and post it in the AV forum but this thing super easy to use. The application is pretty awesome. The only thing I recommend if you guys get one is buy another microSD card with the full SD adapter. The USB dongle sucks and is highly unstable for transferring files off the card. I bought a Sony card for like $21 bucks and it was worth it.

Flash forward to today. My appointment with the interior guy to get my seat fixed. He's super cool. He takes the entire rear seat out and says he'll call me later in the afternoon when its ready. So I'm rolling around with no back seat all day which is kinda interesting just to look back there and not see anything.

Anyway I get the call an the seat is finally done. I see it in the lobby and you cannot tell the difference from the other side. It looks OEM.

Story time!!!-ykmjsrx.jpg

Only problem now is the two plastic clips that hold the seat down are busted so the guy will have me come back out and replace them.

So my backseat saga is almost over but I wanted to share that there are shops out there that treat their customers right if you are just calm and cool and understand that we're all human.

TL;DR: Tinters put a hole in my seat, didn't tell me about it until I called them on it. They made it right and I found an awesome interior guy in the process. REMEMBER BE NICE!

Good to hear there are people out there that own up to their mistakes. Hard to find a shop that will treat you right after a issue.

Those plastic clips that hold the seat are a royal pita.

Clearly the tint shop never liked your AZ screen name.

Luckily everything worked out well for you. Honesty in business is a rarity nowadays.

@ Jackass, PM'ed you with their number.

@ TLin401, I'll get some pics tonight if the sun comes out. Been cloudy here in Misery.

@ GOOSEej, The shop I went to just popped the whole rear seat out and sent me on my way. They should be able to do the same for you. Just make sure they buy some clips for the bottom seat that attach it to the frame as those break easily.

How much was it to get the rear tint removed and redone? Mine is bubbling up too, and I'm wondering if I should just remove it myself, but I've been told it's a pain in the ass.

The removal at the shop was done for $90. After reading a thread on here about how a guy ended up scratching his rear windshield trying to remove it himself I was willing to pay the extra $90.

The tint job was around $225 I think.
