Stop it. Please...

...just stop putting "Type-S" badges on non-Type-S TL's. No one, but the ignorant, is being fooled. I saw another '04-'06 going down the freeway this morning with the "Type-S" badge slapped on below the "TL" badge. The sad thing is, this particular TL was quite nice otherwise; A-Spec Aero kit, nice wheels, etc.

I agree.. but.. we all know that for as long as there have been special edition caars, people have wanted their cars to look like the SE editions without paying the extras.. seen it all through the 70's

I know it may be frustrating, but as these cars become more affordable the younger folks are going to buy more of them so I guarantee you will see more of this. I wouldn't pay it any mind.

but let me also add that be glad that it was at least the Proper Type-S badge and not some stupid Type R badge that makes no sense what-so-ever.

Why do people put Honda emblems on Acura's? In my opinion, I could care less. It's like colors, some like white, some like black.

If I had a RSX I'd put a Honda emblem on it, but the TL is a big no no.

I agree. I have an 05 and while I might swap to type s bumper to fit atlp quads down the road or get type s sidemarkers or tails, I would never put a type S badge on.

It's pretty tacky.

The key here, of course, is that the application of the badge does not auto-magically convert one's 3.2L to a 3.5L, etc.

i was driving on the beltway this past weekend and saw a NBP 3G TL behind me.

he switched lanes, and drove up next to me, cracked his window, and gave me a thumbs up.

i was in the process of raising my hand with a thumbs up, until he passed me and i saw a type-s badge on his base TL...so i slowly lowered my hand and looked back at the road in front of me...

Hahaha. Man, I still haven't seen an opportunity to thumbs up or wave to any other TL drivers. Everyone I see driving a TL next to me has it bone stock and is at least 25 years older than me.

I feel like they'd think I'm a crazy person if I wave to them.

lol I suppose not. I'm not that outgoing to random people though. I'd definitely be more inclined to wave if I knew they were into TL's, instead of just happening to have one.

I agree! I have an 06 Base TL and I want to get Type S wheels just because I like them; but I don't want people to think I'm trying to pass of my Base TL as a Type S. No way!

i know what you mean. most (nearly all) of the TL's i see are stock and driven by older people.

i had noticed that this one was clearly modded from about 5 cars back, and it actually looked decent, besides the type-s badge .

my girlfriend was in the car with me and after the guy gave me a thumbs up, she looked over at me and was like..."what the hell was that?"

I always notice TL's when I am driving. I have yet to have one acknowledge me, even Type-S's.. young, old.. most never even look.... mostly women drive them around my area.

I DON'T CARE WHAT BADGE IT IS,,, IT'S A TL!

A friend of mine here in Puerto Rico wants to do the same thing.

I told me NOOOOOO, that is going to make you look like a wanna be type-S.

I hope he doesn't do it.

Yeah I think it's the fact that it isn't a niche car, a lot of people drive TLs and most of them aren't enthusiasts at all. To everyone except us, it's just another car haha. I know corvette owners have their own wave and stuff, which makes sense since it's not exactly a family sedan lol.

I would only ever wave to obviously modded TL's. At LEAST lowered haha.

Use these opportunities to win brownie points. should have told her, he was giving me the thumbs up on having such a hot gf.

maybe he was trying to 'personalize it'? ..like perhaps his name is
Steve or Sean or Sid or Shirley...and thought a TypeS badge
would clearly tell the world..."this TL is type Steves"!!!

lol.. just making shiz up...

on the same topic, back in the 90s it was always fun to see the
4banger mustang dorks put on a mis aligned extra pipe along the
bottom rear to make it look like a dual exhaust v8. lol. saw one with the
extra pipe held on with rope and was dangling downwards.
