that's an obvious cause the 3rd/4th gen tl is only made in the states...

anyways, this is the same as people putting type R badges and red honda badges. just why lol

Time to do my little rant since so many want to flame those that mod...

I modded my '08 base with an A-Spec kit, wing, Type-S lights and side markers cuz I like it.. really could give a crap what others think. No Type-S Badge or exhaust tips. I wouldn't mind the tips but would never do the badge.. It's my fricken $$, my car, who's business it is what I do or anyone else does?

Many of you need to find something else to do instead of getting riled up cuz someone change the looks of their car.. sheeeesh!

As they say, being a [insert any number of profane names here] isn't against the law.

i think everyone here is debating on the use of the " type S" badge on a base TL. hence the poser label. there are plenty of guys here that tastefully mod their cars with a-spec and type s parts, but would not think to badge their car with "type S" since anyone who knows the TL well, knows faux-look a like type S isn't a real type S. the only time anyone would get flamed is for mods of questionable taste. but hey to each his own. so no need to get upset over a thread you seemed to have taken out of context.

Upset? I wasn't upset, just posting my opinion rather strongly. I am a live and let live guy, what can I say? If a person wants to make a VW look like a Ferrari, more power to him.

But that is just me.

No duct tape, I would like to make this install as clean as possible.
Do you have experience with fiberglass and bondo?

I'm one state west of you and we have one Acura dealer. It's only 20mins from me thankfully. Type-S TL's are very rare too but I see more bases everyday. Same here for 4G's. Mostly NJ and NY plates here.

It is comical to me that I am trying to hide everything I am doing where some are yelling at everyone, including the cops, look at me! I want a ticket!!!

On my last few vehicles I have removed any type of "badging". It's a cleaner look to me. I've yet to remove it from the Type-S, will probably do this weekend. The question I ask is why? Why would a non Type-S want to put on a Type-S badging? Doesn't change anything other than appearance. I had an 05 Chevy Colorado before the Acura and would see guys put the SS badge on their truck. Like that magically changed the I-5 to an LS-1.....really?? On my truck I would get alot of compliments, but every now and again there was that "Whoa, yellow? That's a horrible color". Didn't bother me cause I liked it. I'm just getting into modding the Acura and looking around the site getting different ideas. Some mods I see at very nice while others not so much. But I guess in the end is what you think is cool on your vehicle, it is yours, you shouldn't feel worried about what other's think.

^ The reason "people" like me get riled up is because we are Acura enthusiasts, who are members of Acurazine - "the unofficial Acura enthusiast resource". An enthusiast would find slapping a Type-S badge on a base TL gay, where anyone else wouldnt give a shit.

Enthusiasts take it personally...try telling your mom that her cooking sucks, or your wife that she's fat...enthusiasts feel like the mother or the wife when they see an Acura RDX Type-S or a base poser.

Since everyone is talking about S-Type badges. I think people who wear a Superman logo as tattoo, shirt, license plate have the same mentality as someone who places phony badges on their car. Its some type of confidence, self esteem issue.

Actually, that brings up another one I've noticed - "M" badges on 328's...geesh.

Dodge Neons used to have an optional package from the factory called "SRT Designs" It was a body kit and wing that you could make your non SRT neon look like an SRT-4. I've seen a couple driving around here.

Some people have no shame...
Another example that comes to mind is caliper covers to look like big brake kits.
