Which is still not adjudication, though.

Sounds like the PJC (Prayer for Judgement Continuance) here. I think every state has their version of it. It's a great deal, but you should save it for serious tickets. Here, you get one every three years. If you get another ticket within three years of using it, the charges you used it for show up on your record. In other words, drive VERY carefully for three years. What were you charged with? Are you sure it's worth using?

deferred adjudication not "edification"
Sorry guys, I was late for court, so I must have been seeking edification or at least vindication
Anyway, the correct term I was looking for was adjudication, which basically means "guilty, but put me on probation, and I'll go w/o a ticket for a while."
They allowed me to defer deposition. Which means the same thing.
I paid $85 court fees, and after 6 months, if I'm cleanI'll pay $200 and they'll dismiss it.
I got a ticket just 3 months ago, and I didn't want the added points and surcharges on my insurance.

4 ticket's in 3 years all between 12-19 mph over. Some an absolute joke I took Driver's Safety for two of them since they were a year apart, but I had to bite the bullet w/ the last one.
When I got this one (wife a day from delivering our 3rd), I was ticked. I called up my insurance and learned that the points add up, I would have been paying an additional $150+ every 6 month payperiod for 3 years! That's a lot of dough.
I figured I risk it.

With a clean/relatively clean record, 12 would go to 5 or 9 (doesn't affect ins), 19 to 9 or 14 (14 affects you, but you could probably get out of it with driving school).

In Texas, they allow one ticket under (20 mph over)/ year w/ Driver's school. But the cops have been brutal to me. I think I made the right call.
I wish we could set an alarm for speed limits - like a rev gauge. That would help me. I lived in Germany for a few years, and I haven't recovered from the autobahn.

A speed alarm? LOL...my 89 Ford Probe had one!! Damn car had everything on it, outside temp, avg mph/mpg (both instantaneous and overall), metric/US conversion of all stats & guages, pretty much you name it, it had it. Was in perfect shape when I bought it, too...then I wrecked it a few times...

i think insurance companies keep a different points system. i have gotten a few tickets here and there, but i still have 0 points on my license (i.e. with secretary of state/dmv). BUT, to my surprise, my insurance company sent me a warning letter, saying i have accumulated 7+ points with them.

in other words.....how many points before you lose your DL, how many points are you allowed, how long do they stay on your record, etc, etc?????

Varies by state. I am not even sure how many you need before your license is revoked, for here at least - but I believe they stay on the record for 3 years here.

in maryland you can get PBJ Probation Before Judgement, so if you go to the same county court within your probation time you will get the points/fine for the first ticket you were on probation for. But the court system here you can get PBJ in different counties and they can't tell you have it in another county. You need to get a RADAR detector or the WINDOW method. Keep you window down and smell for bacon. :cop:
