You just need to buy D2S bulbs. If you search around the forum a little bit, you will notice people mentioning that the higher the Kelvin rating the lower the output will be. If you want bright headlights, definitely stay with OEM none of that cheap aftermarket crap. The best bulb on the market with a pure white output would be the Osram 66240 CBI's, but they do come with a hefty price, $200/pair.

Ugh, so many people are just misinformed. Go ahead, switch to a 6000K and let us know how much brighter it is

And now my reply that doesnt have smartass remarks lol. Just like Nate said the higher tha K rating is actually opposite of what you would think. So a retarded 8000K blue/purple bulb would be extremely dim compared to a stock 4300K. I have not used the following bulbs, but in my research if you want the brightest bulb possible its the Osram D2S SVS bulb. That bulb has the most lumens out of any bulb. If you want slightly whiter look, but still lots of output then the Osram CBI will do the trick.
Absolutely do not go with some cheapo 6000K+ bulb. They are simply put.....junk! Then if you want to get even more involved you can add clear projector lenses as well, but that requires a decent amount of work, skills, and patience, not to mention the chance of breaking stuff.

Hope this helps.

You can buy HID bulbs for 15$, but i would highly recommend not doing so. Spend the extra money and get what was recommended above if you're looking to change up from OEM

Morimoto 3five are $45 a pair and they aren't bad.

I have them in 5k and they are pretty bright with a authentic zkw lens

It's been a while, but I have changed the bulbs before on a previous TL I had all through reaching in through the wheel wells. Things were kinda right, but heck of a lot better than taking the entire bumper off. Just jack the front end up, undo the push pins on the front side of the wheel well liner, pull the black plastic liner back, and headlight access is granted :-)

Are there any recommended brands of bulbs, I just got my car and I want to change them out. I cant afford to spend 100 for a set of bulbs, but a good proven option for less I don't mind doing.

Morimoto 3five bulbs are going to be your best bet if you're not wanting OEM spec bulbs.

If you have small hands changing the bulb through the fender shouldn't be a problem. If your bulbs haven't been changed before their will be some trouble, because you have a little torx screw holding the headlight cap on that can be tricky to get at if you don't know what your looking for. Also, getting the bulb in and seated correctly can be tricky if you don't know where the little nubs and slots fit for the HID bulb.

If you're changing it for the first time, I would recommend taking the bumper off and taking the headlights out just so you can see what you're doing for the first time.

When you're changing the bulbs through the fender well most of the time your going in blind and and wont be able to see what is coming off, what needs to go where. A lot of it is touch and feel where the bulbs needs to go. Just my .

^they produce a white light.
I bought some morimoto 5K's for my 2012 KIA sportage

notice the non-sharp cutoff line with the KIA.
its using Halogen projectors.

if it were projectors meant for HID's the cutoff would be a lot sharper.

Being that the Morimotos are about 45 bucks... and I see that Osram/Phillips is said to be the better bulbs, what is a good entry Osram/Phillips bulb cost. I am happy with the OEM i just want a bit more color to them, So possibly the 5k color would be sufficient.

Previously in my 05 yukon I ran a 6000k bulb kit i got from DDM(IIRC) and they were bright, a little taste of blue and worked fine.

theretrofitsouce.com is one of the best HID websites. ever. EVAR.

I get all my HID needs from TRS.com
and, the kia didnt come with hid's stock, so I bought the kit, and its been holding up for a year now.

Dont fall for the other cheap ass hid websites.
other websites provide chinese knock offs that may or may not die an early death.

TRS.com is home here in the USA.
Just visit the website already, you'll notice a full website with FAQ's, forums, contact information, and everything else you need to know about HIDs

Beat me to it. You will not find any better HID distributor than TRS. Their customer service is top notch and they are always will to help you with any issues you come across. Like most HID company's they aren't just nice to you up until you cash in your shopping cart they will be there for you anytime any day. You won't regret going with TRS. If you're around the Atlanta area stop In there shop.
