Remote Start - Installed

OK - I am the guinea pig.

Installed AudioVox PRO-9175FT4 in my 2004TL AT.

Results - Works great. Kind of.

Remote start works flawlessy. Trunk works fine.

Car heats up fine. You need to give the TL time to warm up I have found. 10 minutes or more. I leave my heat on auto.

Only problem is I have to go back to get the door locks working. The installer couln't find the door locks fuse or switch and rather than trash my whole electronic system he punted.

Due to go back next week after he gets more info.

Got it done at Jo-Dis in Connecticut. 299 installed.

Please keep us posted. Will you have to use the Acura key fob as well? For the alarm?

A followup:

Remote start now working 100%.

They found where the door lock wires are and now the locks and remote start work fine.

When the car remote starts the doors lock.

The alarm still works.

Only thing I don't have is the panic button. But if you are male who needs it.

Sounds great. I might have to consider getting one of those, but not for the heater to be on, but rather the AC.

re:Panic not working. Is that because the remote start was wired into the "panic" mode? (I.e. push the panic button, car starts).

re:"Trunk works fine" ???

No.

You do not use the acura remote.

My new remote has four buttons.

1. remote start
2. lock doors
3. unlock doors
4. option - trunk

Thats good news. Thanks

Just checking:

Is the alarm armed by hitting the lock button?

Does the trunk release work (even) once you have remote started the car? (I had this issue with a remote starter that was installed in my previous TL)

So you don't carry the Acura fob with you now? How about the all windows down feature on the Acura fob. Can you still do that trick?? I would definitely go for remote start if all works well. I had it on my Legend originally, but I unfortunately bought it 15 miles from home and, after it stopped working for the 3rd time, I just gave up on it.

Also, does your Acura fob still work with the car though? I would want my wife to still have the panic button. Thanks for being the guinea pig.

Oopps - I never read the owners manual and do not believe in car alarms so I never had used it.

My alarm DOES NOT work with my new remote.

When I use the acura remote I can set alarm by pressing twice.

My new remote does not set it.

Acura remote works just as before for person wanting wife to still use it.

Another weird thing - If you remote start the car with the new remote then try to unlock the doors with the acura remote it does not work. Have to use the new remote to unlock doors when it has been remote started.

If car was not remote started acura remote works fine unlocking.

Back to Jo-Di's for third time. Damn.
