Recall problem(?)
Hey guys.. well I took my 07 tl into the dealer for the power steer fluid leak recall... and it took forever to get done. Then on my way home smoke started to come out under the hood, so i panic and took it back to the dealer for a check up on what they did. so the service guy told me that it was just some residue from the old pipe and that its normal for this kind of recall.. so I just want to know if any of you guys who did the recall had this kind of problem and if its really normal.. thanks!

turn back around and demand that they clean it. The cause for this TSB was that leaking PS oil could cause a fire, and you saw smoke . Demand that the clean it and fix any damage from it. Also a free oil change is necessary since you had to go through so much hassle.

Sounds like a legit explanation. fluid could have leaked onto the J pipe.
I have not gone in for this recall, but when I do, you can bet your ass I'm telling them to make sure there's no residue on ANYTHING! Having your car serviced at a dealer commands better care be taken with your vehicle. This sort of explanation would be more suiting coming from a small shop.

Hi...
Got the recall done and since then my Car is making a clunking noise whenever I turn my steering specially to the left. Took it back to the dealer and they said it is not because of the recall but some suspension issues and wanted to charge me bigtime just to check that. I do not believe it is because of suspension.
Is there a place I can complain or do something about this??

Start with the Service Manager and work your way up to the General Manager. Stress to them that the sound was not present prior to the work.
Also, it may help if you could locate the problem yourself. Do you know anyone that might be able to help you find the noise? This way you could take it back to the dealer and tell them what they screwed up.

some mechanics are lazy, or the shop kid is supposed to clean up the engine bay and does a lousy job.
The techs spend their time fixing things, and have underlings for the dirty work.
How careful is that guy??, possibly the same one who curbs your rims going thru the car wash?!?

Jobs are done based on what all needs to be done that day- cars with customer waiting in lounge get worked on sooner, drop offs/loaner car, can be done anytime.
While its possible to change the hoses when the engien and exhaust pipe are hot from your 45 minute drive (exaggeration to make a point) its scorching inside the hood for a few hours.
If you can drop the car off the night before, so its cold in the morning- you get worked on first. It takes a few hours to do the wiper motor and ps hoses.
Look at your car when you pick it up!!!!- better to have the service MANAGER come out to see why the hood is up on a car than let the problem continue for others- and you have to come back too
