Rear muffler help

Hello I usually don't start post unless I can't find answers and well I have been searching lIke crazy and can't seem to find what I need to know so here goes...I have mid muffler delete done and it's ok but definitely underwhelming I really want to get a catback but don'the have funds for that anytime soon. I've got 2 kids and a ton of bills so probably won't ever be dropping 1k on an exhaust. What im thinking about doing is instead of deleting my rear mufflers which I'm sure would sound terrible I want to replace my mufflers with some performance mufflers maybe MagnaFlow or vibrant maybe even something cheaper like obx or srs I'm not sure yet. Just looking for a good deep sound with no raspy. Has anyone done this?how do you think it would sound? Only thing I can find is people doing rear muffler deletes and adding resonator etc...any input is greatly appreciated.

guess what!?
experimenting with exhaust is just that! EXPERIMENTING!
if you want more noise on the cheap, you're going to have to bite the bullet and just try stuff man!
swap out the mufflers if you so choose! this isnt a unicorn car! Exhaust shops have seen everything and has heard everything!
bring the car to the shop and say, I WANT MORE NOISE! CUT THAT SHIT OUT! they'll hook you up for less than $100

Nah, no one has done it before, it's a fairly new car so people have been scared to mod it while it's still in warranty. Be a pioneer!! Do it and report back to see how you like it!

magnaflow, cherry bomb, vibrant.....these companies have all been alive longer than the TL has.
they are all muffler, resonator manufactures....

each manuf....makes the muffler, or resonator different!
so, pick one... ask exhaust shop to cut out old and replace with new!

man!

you could also visit www.youtube.com and search for different TL's with different exhausts to see how they sound...
however, computer speakers and recording microphones are not that great and the sound wont be like real life...but it will be close.

Of course I'm not the first person to want to replace my mufflers and I'm sure it's been done but I sure as hell can't find anyone on the forums that's done it. So why can't I ask about It? That's what this forum is for to help fellow acura owners out. Right? Or maybe I'm wrong since I can't afford to waste 1k on a an exhaust I'm not part of the elite azine community

I dont see any one else rushing to show you their exhaust that they experimented on....

furthermore, you can just search youtube, where you will get instant results of video and sound!!!!!!!!!!!(because thats the place where ppl upload vids and sound anyway)

I did a HKS Hi-power Muffler (75mm) deleted the mid muffler and resonator - 2.5" piping from the cat to muffler, whole set up cost me $320 - ($220 for the muffler, $100 for the install and pipe bending), granted I went the single exit route, definitely not for everyone, but the HKS is a clean sound, I must have researched sound clips on youtube for hours lol. I also utilized @scottersons single exit write up (https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-p...2A-lol-704394/) for some direction - his sounded good too.

My sound clip - i know I need a better one -

good luck sir

Since this thread is taking off... and I seem to be the guy that does things just a little differently.

Anyone with experience keeping it quiet and reworking the exhaust to improve performance?

Sleeper mode y'all, speak softly and carry a big stick.

^ Not where I was going with that. OEM compromises flow for quiet... a little too much IMO. Straight pipes flow well, maybe too much, in the case of Turbo Diesel, too much flow actually decreases performance according to a lot of dyno data, a 6" straight pipe doesn't do as well as a 4" pipe... not sure if that's true with non Turbo engines.

The main reason I like something a little quieter is that I like my neighbors... good people, and I have a tendency to come in late at night or early in the morning.

The secondary reason is it's nice to pull up next to one of the $40k Challengers or Camero's at a stop light and not have them ever know what's comming.

^ exactly this.

I deleted all three of my mufflers and just added a magnaflow resonator where the mid muffler used to be, str8 piped the tail mufflers. Also added AEM v2 CAI and it sounds probably what you're looking for.

adding the 2nd resonator makes it sound more tame but roars when you put it down.

Under load.. From standstill.. From behind parked.. Got all details on the combination.. Would get the "what exhaust setup you have" question at least twice a week..

Sounds really good. I will probably do something very similar. Wondering if there is a big difference in deepness by replacing the resonator with aftermarket one?

I'm not usually a fan of the angled n1 style exhaust look but you can tell yours is a high quality muffler and it actually looks really good. Sounds good too

Thank you sir - yeah, after hearing the HKS on other cars, and then hearing it on Scottersons i knew i what I was going with, I may acutally tie in the other side this year...not 100% sure, still like the single exit look.
Here's some other shots -

I always felt like the deep tone I got was in part because of that aftermarket resonator!

I think im going to replace my resonator with better one and do rear muffler delete then add a magnaflow muffler before the split I just dont want it to sound raspy. That way I only have to buy one muffler. I just wonder if it would sound better or worse then having the 2 mufflers on the end.
