Push to Start Engine Button

What all would you need to get something like this installed, Like the S2000 has? I know some people bought the S2000 parts and have installed it on there Accords.

Not that this is the answer to your question, but I'm pretty sure you would still have to use the key. You would still have to turn the key to the second position (right before actually starting the car).. then, instead of turning it that extra notch, you would press the START button instead.

Do you have a specific reason for wanting it?

Turning a key AND pushing a button is so old-fashioned. I had that in my 1959 Triumph and in several older cars. The button would be okay coupled with a keyless system.

What if you installed Remote Start? And how does the one in the S2000 work?

Is turning that key wearing your wrist out?

I don't see what's so great about push start buttons... if everyone had it people might want turn key ignitions again... It's just something "new."

If I remember right, you turn the key and then push the start. Somewhat like the newer Vipers.

That would be kinda cool

lol no man I just wanted to see if its possible at all, but I guess if you gotta turn the key anyways its pointless, I was thinking getting a Remote Start installed and than being able to use the Button, but it really is pointless

even the cheaper G35 has this feature. Well most new higher end cars do now a days. I think adding it to a car that didn't come with it to begin with is rice.

No, the G and FX has a smart key to where you do not need to insert the key, just turn the ingnition. In M, you just push the Start.

Similar, but not the same.

to me it is all a waste... I can see keyless entry, but all the bother about push button start and all. Get better brakes on the dam car or take care of some rattles.

Why not have voice activated start... trained for your voice.. or a retinal scan... what next... People fuss over all this crap (yeah I know so many love it) thing is it takes attention away from what really matters which is a better quality car and not fancier features... Sure the LED tail lights are fine... the day that keyless start fails though... hmmm

Voice recognition would suck. My allergies make me lose my voice about 1x a year.

G35 isnt cheaper.

I believe there was a car with V/A start at one point as my grandfathers rich friend took his car in cause the voice command didnt work. Being from boston he said staaht instead of start. I would personally prefer a car that turns over right when you pull it out of park, and when put back in park keep running until the driver door is opened, or the key is removed from the vicinity.

Reading comprehension much? The G35 is cheaper than the M35/45. Did you not read the quote above it to see what I was referring too?

my uncle had one on his older model galant and when he left for saudi arabia and gave me his car to take care of i always used the remoteless start but sometimes it wouldn't even work for some reason. he had the switch kind where you can turn it off and on it was confusing. also one time leaving the parking lot at my college i saw a guy try and turn on his car with his remoteless key and it ended up the car launching forward at him... not a pretty site indeed silly saturn owners :P

That's because he had remote start on a manual and forgot he left it in gear. There is a reason that shops don't install remote start on 5 speeds. A lot of custom stereo shops will install alarms designed for manuals however even they aren't 100% fool proof. I have many friends that have forgot they left there cars in gear and driven them into fences, buildings, other cars, curbs etc..

It was really bad the kid got it so hard he flew into his windshield then rear ended like an F250 then launched forward at the back bumper of that truck. I ran over to see if he was okay .. and well lets just say .. i haven't seen him around much

one time i wired up a garage door key pad to activate remote start.... it was neat the part of it that could just be "Hot wired" was hidden away back in the dash... only the keypad was in sight, not the brains for it.

I thought the prius is like the new GS, in which the key has to be anywhere inside the car.

That is true, but it has a little hatch so you also have a place in the car where you can put the key (if you like)
