Pin Striping on '04 TL
Anyone have any experience, suggestions (or pix) of pin stripes on their TL? I've been thinking of a thin red stripe down the side gutters - whatever you wanna call those indentations - of the doors on my Pearl White.
Appreciate the help - thanks.

I think the main suggestion you're going to get from us clowns is:
Don't do it. It's not going to improve the classy lines of the TL, it's going to uglify them.

red on white? GAUDY
There were gold pinstripes on my WDP when I got it, but I promptly removed them and it looks a whole lot better.

:thefinger Screw 'em! I did mine anyway. Not just cheap tape but used a highly skilled artist to hand paint them who has been doing it for 25 years. I had the dealer include it so he had to cough up much more than he planned.
It turned out beautiful (see my detailed pictures on link below- you have to register but it's free and they won't hound you. Make up the info if you want to)
I have a black TL and the dual pinstipe is gold and camel to match the interior.
Those of you nay-sayers: look at it first and then I'll listen to your opinion.

I admit that I'm not a pinstripe fan (and I still can't conceive of a good pinstripe on SSM) but that gold on your NBP is pretty cool...about as classy as I've seen a pinstripe in a while.
Nice work on your calipers as well!

Thanks. I know I'm more of a traditionalist than a ricer. I consider the TL to be a luxury car and will accept subtleties if done tastefully. It's not a Ferrari.

I do not care for pin stripes either. But yesterday I saw a NBP with a thin yellow pinstripe. The pinstripe was the same color as the raised yellow race-style lettering you see on racing tires (like the Goodyear Eagle). It looked pretty sharp but it is not something I would want on my car.

I personally would never put pin-stripes on my car because it screams "hey, I drove a station wagon or el camino in the 70's".
Seriously, though, I just don't think it adds anything to the car and actually detracts from the solid form of the car. It just seems mis-placed on this car.
That being said, the choice is yours - if you like it, do it. If you don't, then don't.

Personally, I would think another color other than red would be more appropriate. I saw a 03 white TL with dark gray/black pinstripes and that looked okay. I def like it better than red.
Pinstripes aren't for me, but your car...

Right on. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Regarding the PIN strip, I think you need to be a certain type of person to appreciate it. Myself, not to big of a fan.
