Open mouth grille?

Does anyone have this open mouth acura tl grille?

I want to know how to install it if I buy it?

and if it is worth it for extra air flow for the engine?

let me know..

I also want to see it on a black car. I think it would look good. What do you guys think about this grille?

Well, I can answer the airflow question.

No. The engine bay will not benefit from the additional opening. Why? Because we are talking about the flow of air. Your stock grill already allows more air to enter the engine bay than what can exit from the engine bay. The problem with the stock configuration is a lack of openings for the air to exit from the engine bay. Thus, the additional opening will not increase air flow because that additional air has no place to exit.

To improve your underhood airflow, you must create more places for the air to exit. If interested, please see the link below for more info on this topic.

A few guys here on the forum have purchased the grill. They were happy with it.

BTW, if you do a search on the Acurazine forum, use the term "grill" and not grille. Americans refer to it as "grill".

I think that it requires you to do major surgery on your oem grill. I think you must cut off the entire oem opening, meaning that inner huge oem lip. Hopefully, someone else will comment if this is the case or not.

Like he said, if you do a search there is a ton of people who already have this.

Here is a thread with pics, there is like 5 different people with black TLs in that thread alone who already did this mod:

I have the eBay grill on my car currently. It gives the car a more aggressive and distinctive look IMO. It works well on a black car also, just make sure u paint match it.

+1 on it being a purely aesthetic mod. I like the idea, but not the execution. The 'open mouth' looks a little too 'Mazda6'... which is a good looking car, but why imitate? If I ever do a custom/mod grill, the mesh would only be recessed from the trim by an inch or so and the emblem would be in the middle to break it up.

I bought this grille. Installed it last night. I did it myself, but recommend professional installation. Fitment is not very tight. I have it held in with cable ties and a hot glue gun.

Looking good comes at a price, my friend! It's an awesome look-it depends on how much you really want this. Personally, I like it a lot.

your link wont open but I am guessing the price is around 300$? For that money I would do it if it mounted right up, no custom work needed and no fucking around. This way I am not so sure.

Id spend 300$ on performance mods instead and just paint the stock grill black. that would look nice too
