i dont want to get rid of it.....its a good car man, but with these jerk offs telling me im abusing it makes no sense. theres no signs of abuse....its not abused. you can tell when the car is abused.
If you are having such trouble with that dealership, what about taking it to a different dealership preferrably one that you might know someone else on the here who have taking their car for recall work, etc.
Honestly it looks like the dealership is being somewhat lazy and not trying to be very outgoing in order to help you out and solve the issues you are having. Like said you can try calling corporate and explaing your issue to them but what's that from them also giving you the run around also and having a headache with them. If it where me I'd just take it to a different dealership and have the work done there. No reason in dragging it with that current dealership when it looks like they could honestly careless. Unfortunately there are just some people out there that shouldn't be working in that type of work but they still do.

x5 gets a human on the 800 number, but they are simply phone answering people- not actual acura manager- not car people- just phone people who read from a book of NO and tell you to take it to the dealer
ASK for a manger to call you direct- give them numbers and best times to reach you
they take a report from you and a real acura manager calls the dealer to see whats up- then calls you to see what can be done
There may be a perception at the dealer of how you drive based on the cars looks and mods.
Reading your sig, I can imagine their thought process
Its also true that bad batches of parts go thru and you end up with it.
Some people are quailty control for life- all the messed up stuff finds them!
Dont ask how I know~

dude man 5 racks? lol shit seems to find itself at my door step a lil too much... lmao! anyway thats exactly what i did....i called asked to speak to someone like a manager and told them the prob and i got a case number....i said i hope this isnt coming out of my pocket.....the guy says u must be kidding me...4 racks going on 5 and its still not fixed??? why would u expect it to come out of ur pocket this is honda's error or the mechanics errors. and then i told them that im leaving for 3 months and wont be back til nov. they said to drop it off and itll be taken care of at that time...i just hope it is and will be taken care of.
Damn man I have read your posts about the racks a few times and it's scary.
I had my rack changed out last month. I really didn't want to but the dealer insisted it was the only thing to fix my problem. I told them it should be last resort because I have heard of horror stories (yours). I asked them to try and rectify it any other way if possible. There was no leaks just a clunking sound coming from the column. Anyways they changed it and it's like a NEW car. Huge difference!
I wanted to get all warranty issues taken care of so I could lower the car. I knew they would give me excuses after I messed with the suspension. So now I have the car lowered and all is well but I am still worried if something can go wrong.
What should I look for? If something does go wrong I imagine the dealer will try and squirm out of it because my Teins are now in. Isn't your car lowered? They don't bother you about it because you have the A-Spec suspension? Which dealer did you rack?

acura of manhattan...they dont bug u about the aspec simply because its theirs... the guy said if i had other suspension on the car it'd be voided out.
I have the rims on the car on occasion (ronjons) and the rest of the time the cars rolling around on the type s rims...the 18's dont deserve to be destroyed because of the roads in NYC.
At first they said oh yea its a corrosion prob we had in one of our storage locations. im like ok shit happens, then its because it wasnt installed right, then its because a hose and o ring wasnt good. now what the hell is it?!!!? u know?
the main thing to look for is leaking from all the hoses. and on the rack itself around the boots. there will be leaking occuring. if not occuring dried up and shit stuck all over it. i even had a leak in the middle of it one time. made no sense. just look for leaking. around the power steering pump itll have a lil residue but thats probably from installing the hoses or hose...i wipe the whole engine bay clean when i get the car back from them so i know whats good and whats not. i cant trust them anymore. they said this time around it's a Type S rack because it's brand new and it'll work 100%...guess not.

and now they have the power steering hose recall for gen3s- make sure you all get that done right away!~ underhood fire potential if it leaks or breaks
When they dont know why a series of failures has occured--and they want to tell the customer something beside- effif i know..so they have to guess.
Maybe corrossion, maybe solar flares, maybe my dog ate the install directions and we didnt put any fluid in it...maybe they use the cheapest parts and place to assemble them- and the instructions were in one language and the workers in another...
Expect it to take a few days unless the Service Manager has ordered the new unit and you just drop the car off the night before... so its cold in the morning for the tech-
they appreciate that a lot!

Trip man sorry to hear the nonsense that you gotz to go through. Isn't there some lemon law that protects you against this shit? Like if they can't fix the same problem 3 times you are entitled to a full refund or some crap? You defenitely fall into that category so I would defenitely pursue that angle. Cuz it just seems like there is something seriously wrong for you to have to go through all these racks.
signs of failing rack are leaks from the ends of it...or higher pressure at either end making the container overflow. allon i have almost 90k on it. but on the rack under 10k. the lemon law i may look into but i love the car.....i dont think id be able to give it up because of some BS problem thats fixable.....i told the guy i dont think the rack is being prepped correctly. it has to be fed fluid and pressurized before and install....if theres air in the lines then theres going to be problems.
the car must be IN the shop- disabled,,, for more than 30 days, with the same problem before lemon laws apply.
They are trying their best and are at the mercy of the parts supplier
Warranty replacement parts are not new units- they are rebuilt- just like the transmission
Maybe the real problem is with the pressure valves in the ps pump and its destroying racks!
As for prefilling- I want to see the book page on that.
Its normal to install units dry- add fluid, turn the wheels back and forth while adding fluid.
The owner book allows complete emptying of PS res and rack fluid by turning the wheels until its dry, then add new fluid and burp -add more fluid- burp

yea thats what i meant with the prepping... everytime i pick it up the guy says "there may be some air bubbles"....im like dude wtf r u kidding me? i hope there arent any in the system while i drive...or that he took 99.9% of them out before I even take delivery...but the last rack they put in wasnt a rebuild it was a brand new type s rack. i saw all the paper work regarding it. they came from honda to inspect the car before putting a new piece in....even they found it odd that it keeps getting replaced and they kept coming in corroded from the factory....so they did a top to bottom investigation.
Hmm odd about the whole corrosion thing......My dealer had to wait 10wks. for a rack because of a "national shortage" and he said there was a waiting list for a backorder. Of course I thought that was BS but after hearing about the corrosion problem maybe they were trying to rectify something?
oh for sure.... they werent telling anyone about the problems...i was told possibly out of mistake by the dude who checks the car because no one knew or even thought to keep it under wraps.... im called in to inspect the parts myself as well as the tech when the car goes in....i told the guy u do part swaps i wanna inspect them visually...i dont trust the guy doing the work because he doesnt care for the car like i do....he can be the best in the dept but its not his car.
Sorry man...that totally sucks!! i have only had the power steering hose recall done and havent had any problems yet (knock on wood). Maybe there is something else on your car that is contributing to ur 5 consecutive failures??...what did they say is wrong with your trannny??
What the hell is a heating core? And charging it. Sounds to me like you are getting the run around. If you are talking about the heat from the A/C then they are fucking with you. The heating from your a/c works from the heated water in your coolant system.
the heating core or heater core is the box that actually pushes the heat around the car it has a fan and a mini radiator that takes the hot anti freeze in from the heater valve and pushes it around... located on the firewall in the engine bay.....have u ever taken a car apart? i mean thats typical terminology....seems to me like everyone else understood what was said or had an idea.
run around? i think not. i know BS being spit when i hear it.....and im not some stupid ass who sits there n takes shit from these people.....i bluntly call people out on it.... ESPECIALLY if i know whats being done. i dont even get those "extra" charges because they know me there already and I will abuse them for stupidity =) in a funny way of course.

is my rack failing too???
hmmm recently in the mornings just when I start moving the car and turning (I think) I hear a muffled pop I thought I was coming from the front left rim but I know my lugs are tight and they have been on the car before( just took off my stocks again) but anyways could this be a sign? I havent noticed any leaks on the ground. I need to get all these stupid things fixed before my warranty expires. Thanks anyone
