Need some common sense knocked in me!

Alright here goes I need to be talked outta this. I probably wont pull the trigger depends on what numbers they are talking...
Ive had my SSM 04 TL for alil over a year now I love the car Ive done mostly all my own maintenance (brake pads, 3x3 tranny flushes, oil changes,). When I was originally shopping for cars last year my first choice was the 04 audi S4, I wanted this car soooo bad I had dreams about it, 2nd choice was a SSM 3G 6SPD black leather, with NAVI, I just had to have the 3G with those options. Well I went thru alot of dis pear trying to get the S4 every place I went to wanted me to put down more and more money. I went to look at one 3G which was a SSM 5AT black leather with NAVI 83000 miles in which I purchased for $15300. Well now the time has arose for me to get a pretty good deal on a 04 S4 with just 60000 miles on it. Heres what makes me not wanna pull the trigger its an auto (I know I have a auto now but Im naturally a clutch man. I drive my 3G in sportshift all the time the S4 has sportshift as well... Still nothing like a clutch tho), No Navi, and I honestly think the interior is not on par with the 3G with Navi. But that beastly sounding V8, and the exterior is on Par with the 3G. Oh well aziners give me your input

Euro car's maintenance is going to be insane as Geeky said. Also, if you REALLY want the Audi, I'd wait until the perfect car arises. As you stated, you want a manual with navi, so wait until the time is right and get what you truly want, don't settle.

The S4 is an awesome car but the TL is as well. The TL is bigger and most likely cheaper to maintain. There will ALWAYS be something else in life you want but sometimes you have to sit back and enjoy what you already have

I'd Pass on that one! Wouldn't recommend it. Acura TLs are so much larger. Stick with your '04. You don't want the headaches.

But German cars in that generation Audi, may not be wise since, my uncle's mechanic shop has 2 audi one S4 and the A4 both are stuck there since owners can't pay for repairs. Apparently, one issue not being repaired lead to more parts failing.

If you can pay for older, still expensive German parts. than if you REALLY want that generation that I guess.

Just the talk I needed from my fellow bretherens! I too thought about maintainance cost not fun at all. I went to test drive the car today, the car is small it feels too narrow like Im sitting in a shoe. The power is phenomenal, the V8 growl put a grin on my face. What I could not get over was that god awful interior, it looks dated like a 90s car, the shift knob , the recaro seats were stiff felt like they will never tear. The interior felt like good quality just dated.
But Im stayin in my 3G so much has already gone into him and hes been a joy to mod and work on.

rule of thumb for ALL German vehicles: only purchase/keep one within warranty/maintenance plan. And actually, leasing is probably the best option.

We have had 3 S4's in my family. At one point in time me, my mom, and my dad all had an S4. I had an 02 6MT, mom had 02 5AT and dad had the 05 6MT. When they were running, they drove fantastic but they spent countless days in the shop. All were sold prior to factory warranty expiring. The 05 also had horrendous gas mileage since it had that V8. You made the right choice by keeping your TL.

I love the way the S4 sounds. Wouldn't trade my TL for it though.

I wouldn't trade for an automatic one that's for sure. But I love S4s and I consider it to be a step up from Acura so if you find the one you really want, go for it. You have to pay to play right

^^^Yes Sir !!!

If you can pay CASH for an Audi, OR have a HUGE savings account ???
I guess an Audi would be a great car I Love the RS4. But no thanks.
I was going to buy a BMW 135i stick M series and was TOLD by Other BMW owners to MAKE sure I leased it, and got rid of it when lease was up.

When the warranty is up---GET READY TO GO BROKE !!!!

I actually went to look at a Black S4 yesterday. The seats had the alcantara inserts. I did not really think they were comforatble. Also the armrest is not at the right level so that you can rest your elbow and shift at the same time. The cup holder were in the armrest which made no sense, overall not the car for. But that 4.2 5 valve does sound unique, especially with exhaust.
