need advice on purchasing an 06

Hello everybody, Im getting ready to buy an 06 TL/Navi. I got my salesman's price down to $29,500+$2,065(7%tax)+$600(dealer fee)+$670(desination charge)+$200(tag,title)=$33,035 O.T.D. with all season floormat and trunk tray. Do you guys think this is a good deal?

IMHO it's a good price for the car. The dealer fee is a little steep. It's pure profit for the dealer.

You may find this article about which fees you should pay for helpful.

sounds like a square enough deal for me. I paid $30,800 for a 6MT/navi about 2 weeks ago. I didnt pay the dest and dealer fee so my OTD price was nearly the same as yours.

I could not get any other dealer in WI or IL to beat that price. One guy at an IL dealer told me right out that if what I told him is true then I should take that deal.

Centrum...I test drove the car on november 29th. The sales guy said 31,750 was as low as they could go on a navi car. So I told him that I was going to shop him since it was the end of the month. The next day I had an email saying he would be able to give me a "special" price if I could do the deal that day (last day of the month).

So Im thinking they knocked the fees off in order to get it done before the end of the month.

In any event, I got the best deal that I could get locally and I definately think it was due to end-of-the-month shopping.

Your deal sounds even better than mine because you are getting mats. Perhaps you can get them to knock off a few hundred on the fees by playing the "I will come and sign the papers today" line over the phone???

Let us know when you get it!!

Lol, I really think this is the lowest he will go. I have been emailing him back and forth for like 3 weeks now. I have stopped by the dealership twice. Basicaly, Im getting an 06 TL/Navi for $29,500 plus T.T.L. Invoice on those bad boys are like $32,205. That's $2,700 under invoice and with free mats and trunk tray that worth about $200. I think that pretty damn good deal. The dealer is probably making $850 pure profit in this deal. I think its pretty fair. But I'm a cheap guy who always craving for more saving. lol

Centrum-I'm thinking of getting my car to today...I have three dealers with these quotes....

1-33300-otd 06 TL navi/6spd/HPT/propack Silver/Ebony

1-33100-otd 06 TL navi/6spd Silver/Ebony

1-33345-otd- 6 TL navi/6spd/propack/decklid Grey/Ebony

maybe if you wait until the last day of the month...maybe they might go down..But if its the last 06....the dealer might be firm on the price. Thats what I have been getting with dealers around here...goodluck though..

But it will be sick if we get are cars today.....

That's definitely a good deal.

We tend to forget sometimes that dealers are allowed to make a profit...that's part of the game...$850 is not a great deal of money in that regard.

I got a '06 RRP auto/non-navi Demo model with 5000 miles for $28,000. I was haggling with them for over 2 hours and if it wasn't so close to closing I probably could have gotten a new '06 for that much. They were stuck at $28,800 for the longest time and I kept saying no, so they asked me if I would do that price for a brand new '06. I said "Let's see what you have." We looked around and when we got back inside he asked what it would take for me to leave with a new car. I said $28,000 and he said he could do the demo for $28,000. If I had more time I could have said, "How can you dangle a new car in front of me and now expect me to take a demo when just earlier you valued them at the same amount?" Not saying that was my only mistake. I think if you held your ground you could have been able to get the '06 with Navi for $29,500 without the extra fees, just tax and tags.
