My New Silver TL

Its here. I have my car. Took it out for quick spin. Drives like a charm. No rattles. Steering is straight. I have the lip spoiler. Dealer through in the rear mud guards. Does anybody know if these can be painted?

Congratulations. Enjoy the ride. I have no idea about painting the mudflaps. Sorry but have fun. Crank that 5.1 up and enjoy.

Thats great. Please keep us informed. I pick up mine tomorrow. I also am getting mud guards in the back (front are standard). Let me know if you are getting window tinting as I am still looking around.

Never heard of painting the mudflaps. Most likely they would chip pretty bad from road debris, etc and not look so good.

I am getting mudflaps, all season floor mats (Illinois winter approaching), and trunk tray. Anyone look at pinstripes? Dealer had black stripe on SSM with Acura "A" and it looked good.

I need to stop hitting this sight until mine arrives (1st week of December). I am going crazy waiting for mine. About ready to go get a color I did not want so I can get the car.

I am trying to hold out.

The good and bad is no dealer for over 100 miles. No other TLs on the road (can't wait for the looks), but hard to get service.

I'm lucky as my dealer is a 15 minute walk from home and its close to where I shop so no trip will be wasted.

I am getting it tinted, but have not decided which percent or where to get it done. The dealer wants $250 and recommends 35 all around. Is lower the number the darker the tint?

Lower is darker I believe. Don't go too dark as its too hard to see out of at night, I made that mistake on my last car. Make sure they don't use metal tint or you will have big problems if you have a navi car. 35% all around looks good and thats what I am going with. First the cellphone next week though.

I've got gold pin striping on my pearl TL and it's looks just dandy. Also have window tint - 35 on the sides and 20 on the rear window; on metal. Navi works just fine. Had the whole thing done for $180, including 6% sales tax.
Dealer threw in the mud flaps and striping.

The % number equates to the amount of light allowed through. Most states will allow %20 in the rear and no more than 35% in the front. I believe Oregon will allow 20% all the way around but don't quote me on that. I think you'll find that with the windows already tinted from the factory, 35% will work really well. Don't forget to tint the sunroof.

Just 100 miles and smiling

Took delivery of a Pearl Green/Camel/5AT/Nav last Wednesday. It was quite an effort to get this car. Several local dealers wanted deposits just to look for the car. I put two deposits down and got nothing. Got the deposits back and refused any other requests for deposits.

A young fellow at a local dealer remembered what I wanted and called me when he had one coming in. I bought it the next day. I have been smiling ever since.

No significant issues and only one or two trivial ones which will wait until I've wrung the car out. I wasn't at work for more than 30 minutes when the folks at our morning meeting wanted to go outside and take a look.

After driving an MR2 for 17 years, I'm very happy with the handling and performance. The 04 TL is also a big step up in luxury and features.

My only disappointment is that only Canadian cars can switch the voice recognition to French. I thought it would be fun have the female voice in French. I hope they do an upgrade of the firmware.

I suggest you do what I did...35% all around. I don't car for the look of darking on the rear windows and lighter on the fronts. It just ruins the consistency or the flow of the appearance. SUVs and mininvans usually have that, and it looks weird to me even on them.

Avoid metallic tint on the rear window if you have a navi.
