I test drove a WRX STI before I got my TL. It had 900 miles on it and the kids dad turned it back in to the dealer since he lost had already managed to lose his license. The salesman went with me on the drive and said to lete it rip. He said I couldn't do anything to the car that the kid hadn't already done. That car pulled like my big block Chevelle. I was amazed how much power they manage to get out of the boxer 4. If a guy my age thinks that car is amazing I can't imagine how much you younger guys must like it.

If it's a stock or lightly modify WRX you can have a chance of beating them, I've beaten a couple of WRX's before... but can not even hang with the STI, they keep messing with me, but i just pretend like i don't see them... lol

I wouldnt want a WRX for anything except a toy. Rough engine, no power until high revs then its peaky as an old Kawasaki 2 stroke motorcycle. Better to compare a WRX to an EVO or even a Dodge Neon SRT4. Not the same kind of car as a TL...totally different. Just my 2 cents....

well yeah it would be really only a toy beacuse all those cars modded are fast as shit and will dominate a good number of cars on the rd. i still like the TL just wish it was a bit faster.

Hehe. I think you can always say that w/ any car. Thats actually why I got my TL, I currently have a 2002 IS300. I love the car, but w/ only 215hp stock it is underpowered.

The TL puts out 270 so that sounds like oodles to me. I ordered a 6MT blk on blk...but it doesn't arrive until the 25th, can't wait.

The beauty of the TL is it has very good power and a great, quality interior to boot. The IS just has a great interior IMO. The WRX, Evo etc. only have great power, but the interior qualty resembles that of a Daihatsu.

So next time race an IS

roflz, yeah i agree i mean there are many other cars where you can make insanley fast to a point where it's almost stupid for cheap but then you dont get the joy of a having a reliable car and something that is nice (unless you have lots too spend). and yes my friend has a 02 IS300 L Tuned and were going to run one of these days (=

04 WRX 15.4 1/4 mile, hahahaha, more like lower than 14.4 1/4 mile. stock wrx's go 0-60 in 5.8 faster than a TL-s, but the WRX AT's do like 6.3 and a tl-s could beat one, but it would be a drivers race. If the tl-s had a few bolt-on's or was a MT it would beat a WRX hands down. My tl-p w/some bolt-on's can hang with AT WRX's, never raced one from a stop, but have from 50mph roll and kept up all the way to 100mph, neck and neck and then backed off.

My little brother has a 02 wrx.

It beats the shit out of my TL all day long.

Will the longevity of the boxer4 match that of the j32? ....No.

It really depends on what you want. A WRX STi is simply an AWD sports car with absolutely nothing to offer in terms of interior and gadges. For one who's ultimate goal is speed, STi is definitely worth the money. But for someone who's looking for overall package, TL is an attractive offer. You could argue the new 2006 Chevy Corvette is even faster, but how many of us can actually afford that, along with mortgage payments, insurance, and other expenses added up?
I find the WRX STi a cute little fun car, but I wouldn't in a million years buy one. Reason being, if I were to spend $30~35k for a car, I rather it be something practical and luxurous.

I had a couple of those old 2-smokers, H1 & H2............anyway the NEW Mazda speed6 AWD turbo is an impressive package as well.

I get young guys round my area in STi's trying to race me in my RX8 all the time. I think its a young mans car and I really hate the looks of it. I think it needs to stick to the Rally Roads filled with mud and dirt! LOL

But there are two main reasons why I would never race one.

1). I DO NOT street race!

and

2). My 6 Speed RX8 would get its ass handed to it.

Yeah but its performance is going to suffer do to it being so damn heavy. I believe Mazda Reinforce the body on the damn thing by like 50% and I think it weighs in somewhere around 3600lbs. 0-60 is going to be around 6.5 sec! Kinda slow for a 274hp and 280 Torque Turbo Charged Engine with AWD.
