Looking at this TL-Type S
Hi guys...so i am looking at this car: http://www.northbakersfieldtoyota.co...939c198aaf.htm
Its a Type S with Automatic. Mileage is 64,742. It has navigation as well from what the dealer has listed. Their asking price of $21,995 seems rediculous to me though, as dealers in the los angeles area are selling similar cars for about $17k. I am going to go see the car today; what should i be looking for? Are there any trouble spots at this mileage? Finally i was planning to offer $16500 or $17000, is that good or should i go lower?

Looks good to me! I love CBP
The asking price is a bit high but not ridiculous considering the mileage. They are going to laugh you out the door if you offer 20% less than the asking price. I would shoot for $19k OTD and see what they say.
Also, all Type-S models have navigation standard. Just something to remember
Good luck!

LOL your going to offer 16.5? They will laugh at you and you'll be walking out Type Sless. Your price range is more in line with 07/08 base model cars. Believe it or not that price is probably reasonable from a dealership in a large city like LA. I would say somewhere in the 19 range would be a fair deal for that car. 16-17k would be a high mileage Type S that may or may not be in excellent condition. That's just what I have seen and I'm always looking for cars.
Also, like clothTL said above, Type S's all come with nav.

higher mileage too...
i am saying 17k because thats what cars in LA are going for, i.e: http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...gIndex=9&Log=0
higher mileage too...
higher mileage too...

Just buy that one then
. I was thinking to offer 17k because thats what cars down in LA seem to be going for with similar or higher mileage. I will start with $19k and see what they say though....

Well every car is different so it's hard to say. With that big of a price difference I bet that black one has a rough history. Probably has multiple owners and a accident reported. I can already tell its been modded as it has ugly tint on the headlights and taillights, it's been debadged, and that drivers seat looks like hell.
Usually better deals are to be had from private owners. Maybe try that route.

. Thanks
. I will go look at this car first and see whats what.
btw california motors direct is notorious for salvaging cars. their prices should not be considered accurate market value.
That toyota dealer will not sell at 17k even if you have cash in hand.

I got my 2007 TL-S WDP for $20,500 with 49,000 miles. I talked them down from 22,500. I did a 2 hour inspection of the whole car. Made a detailed list of my findings and reviewed it with the sales guy. He dropped the price 2K. Try to get under the car, that tells a lot, leaks, blown bushings etc. The car I got was very car under neither. I mean, like it was hardle driven. It had a few nicks in the paint and the interior was a 9 out of a 10. Only thing was that I had to pay full tax on it.

whoever is the the owner of that CBP took really good care of the car and for the price I can see they will take $500 maximum off that listing price, CA listing for most car with CLEAR title with that mileage usually listing for $23-$24k. When I bought my TL I looking into the history of how previous owner take car of the car and regardless about the mileage and money (cheap car with low mileage).
