Illinois I Pass Drivers

With the New Year and the increased tolls (without IPass), does the IPASS work on the TL. I read an article in the Tribune saying that Acuras, MB, Bmw, Lexus have had trouble. Thanks for the reply's

I have to get Ipass and its always worked on all the cars stated above. Dont worry about it. I think its stupid that they would increase the toll for non-I pass users. It really sucks for the people who live in the border states to pay all that money.

it definitely works, although it is quite unsightly on the windshield where it is required to be mounted.

I wouldn't put it up though, keep it in the storage and just take it out when you need it.

mine works great, its right at the top near the headliner where the rear view mirror attaches, it doesn't block the sensor for the auto dimming, and you can't really notice it from inside the car

I-Pass has never created any problems to me. I have installed it at the same location as cTLgo. Neither EZ-Pass (East Coast equivalent) had ever given me any problems (both systems are identical).

I spray-painted my EZPass black. It is virtually unnoticable in my ebony interior, mounted high up, just to the left of the rear-view mirror. Works fine.

EZPass can be used in MA, NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD, WV, and VA. Soon I think one will be able to go from Maine to at least Virginia as EZPass merges with other fast, pre-paid services (like SmartTag here in VA).

No problems with mine either. If you don't like the looks I believe you can get a transponder that attaches outside the car to your front license plate (provided you've got that on).

Works in mine. I keep it stored in the compartment below the radio and only take it out when I need it.

Not sure about either of those. Accident - I imagine you might lose your $35 deposit. Theft - probably depends a lot on where your car spends its time, and whether you garage it at night.

I see them mostly on GM minivans with the self-clearing (metallic coated) windshields.

The Acura dealer I bought from has IPass in all the loaner/Tester cars so I found out during a test drive it works fine. Since getting it myself it has worked perfectly in my '04 TL.

that's great...
I wish Texas would do the same with theirs...
I have an EZTag that I use in Houston, but it won't work in Dallas TX which is only 5 hours away.

the Tag won't work If I leave it in the in the compartment below the radio,
but I place it on top of the dash just before passing the toll
and it works fine. Painting it black is a cool idea, I also noticed ours can be bought in black.

i know some of you might already have it there
but if you want it to be less noticeable put it behind the tinted part to the right of the rear view mirror. it still works behind there for me.

We have Fastrak in CA and that can be used in the toll roads in southern CA and bridges in northern CA. However, the toll roads service center is based in Secaucus, NJ and could be the same company that run the EZ-pass. I hope eventually the Fastrak and E-Z Pass will be integrated into one system so that I can bring my pass and still use it on my TL or a rental when I travel in the east coast.

It's been awhile since I've checked these forums....I looked at tint earlier in the year, but couldn't get a real good answer on the metallic tints versus ceramic tints and the effect on the Navi. Ztech only uses metallics. Has there been a general consensus after all these months on what is safe to tint your TL with? Also, what kind of pricing did you get at Ztech?

I've been using a metallized tint for almost a year now and haven't experienced any issues as of yet......

I think what we need is a NORTH AMERICA PASS that works on all toll roads in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Since it's all electronic, the differences in currency would not be an issue.

I don't agree at all with what IL is doing, I just hit an 80 cent toll yesterday on my way to O'hare that used to cost 40. Just another way to get everyone's money!

I hate Illinois tolls. Especially now so that they increased the charges. FIBS!

so get an IPASS. they want everyone buying those, otherwise your going to be bending over to the tollways 80cent collection.
