iJDMtoy Led DRL Harness Install w/Pics
#361
There is a module for non DRL cars, that gives them DRL.
People that have THAT, and people that have cars that COME with DRL...like to run LED bulbs...but they don't work correctly without an LED module.
So...if you have an 05 TL that is not from Canada (where DRL was standard)...then you need 2 modules. One for DRL functionality...and one to be able to run an LED bulb in your DRL location.
Unless IDJM or USR have made one that does both. In which case, I'm wrong.

If I were you, don't bother buying a DRL module.
Just perform the independent fog light mod and you won't even need to buy the LED harness.

The reason why an LED harness is needed is to remove the DRL error on the dash which you DON'T even have since your car didn't come with DRL.
The other reason the LED harness is needed is to provide 12V to the DRLs, opposed to the 6V they receive from the factory. Your fog light bulbs are powered at 12V already, so don't waste your money on the harness.
Just perform the DIY, buy LED 9006 bulbs, and plug and play!

Relays are cheap, 40A, find at any parts store, $3-$5.
Excuse to pick up better bulbs.
This is why I didn't buy iJDMToy's kit. Bought their harness, but bought the bulb elsewhere.

Yeah, I read somewhere someone was using a higher quality bulb with a single LED that is brighter than this kit but still using the harness. I actually like the output of these bulbs though, not too bright but way better looking than halogen. Perfect for DRLs in my opinion

Well, after about 4 years, my kit seems to have kicked the bucket. Got the DRL light yesterday in the dash, and both lights were off. Tried cleaning some corrosion off the terminals, but to no avail. Guess I'll need to revisit what to get and how to install it.

my ijdm harness did that same thing with the relay burning out like that. I just had bought it too earlier this year. it must be a bad batch or they did something different with the design. I've tried both the vleds harness and the ijdm one and the ijdm one was the only one that would work for my.

I was looking at the VLED one, but you had trouble with it? Earlier comments made it sound like it was a higher quality. This one lasted me a good long time, but I can't tell if it has changed now. In the listing, I only see one resistor for some reason, and people seem to be saying that their kits don't look exactly what what Chip posted up in the first post, which is what I followed way back then.

Well, now I'm confused. On the way home from work, same thing with the dash light and no DRLs. Then I stopped at the store, and when I started it up to go home, the lights were on and no dash light, stayed that way the whole way home. Any ideas on why they could sporadically not work?

the older version of the ijdmtoy harness lasted a long time but this new one lasted not even a month. the relay kept popping within minutes of changing them. The vleds one has 2 relays on it and one of them blew out too. the vled kit looks of better quality but for some reason it just doesn't hold up

bringing back an old thread, but does anyone know if the canbus led's will work without a harness in the DRL's? im not concerned with a bright output really, im fine with them being dimmed like the oem drl's, i just want the color difference honestly.

Having an issue with this harness. Drivers side LED is always on, but passenger side cuts in and out. Seems like if I just tap the relay the passenger side will pop on but it won't stay on. Double checked ground and the rest of the connections and they are solid. Relay going bad? Any other ideas?

sorry I thought I put it https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01HX...YeL&ref=plSrch
However the bulbs won't run full power (12V), they'll still run at 6V which makes them much dimmer. With LEDs, you want it as bright as you can get because in direct sunlight they are harder to see.
The iJDMTOY and VLEDS does two things - gets rid of the error on the dash - and provides 12V full power to the LED bulbs.

Those will work to fix the DRL light on the dash.

After hours of research I bought lucenta leds with the harness from endlessrpm. Now I’m having trouble
during the install. I can’t get either of the bulbs to light up. When I tried without the harness and direct plug and play only 1 side would light up (to make sure the bulbs worked). How to I get it work without any issues?

There are 2 possibilities - for my iJDMToy harness, i had to put flip the bulbs. In order to flip the bulbs I had to cut off the tab on the bulb so it can go in the other way.
The other possibility is that the harness is plugged into the blue connector the wrong way. Verify that the wires are positive to positive on the harness before you switch that around though to avoid blowing a fuse.
