Meh. A mod has offered to help me, but we'll see.

This time around I will be attempting to insulate and wrap the HVAC plastic pieces and the attachment points so as to cushion them and not create hard points for which the dash cannot expand with this brutal Florida heat.

This will probably be the only time I replace the dash.

Is there anything that I need to be aware of, little tips and tricks that you know of, that will help RS?

If you're able to, it would be fun to see how you go about "cushioning" those pieces. Keep us updated and post pictures. We like tracking your progress.

Yeah, best tip was having the Acura tech with experience do the swap for me.
I'm sure it's not NOT doable...especially for an engineer...
the only part I was involved with was going to the dealership to label and reroute all my
sexy ass under dash wiring and sound system wiring to avoid a $400 add on (thought I was
getting hustled).

There was only one guy at the dealership that usually did it because nobody else liked
to touch them.

You think I'm just giving you shit but my advice comes from experience. Like I said...I had the dash replaced
and the NEW one was already showing the outline within a few months. If I were to do it all again I would have
put that damn suede cover back and on and make it look more custom with the tweeters cut into it like I did.

Only time I didn't have dash PTSD was when I had that mat on it it and man did it feel good to not give a fuck and have to
think about how hot it is outside.

I'm fully expecting one of his high pitched, almost through puberty, narrated youtube upload videos titled "gator
frenzy" but it'll be of gatr's lanai from through the windshield of the RDX.

Thanks man. I'm very mechanically inclined, and will have four weeks off for Christmas break, so I will have the time to do this. I have the service manual as well, and will print out the pages I will need. Anything I should consider replacing while the dash is out?

Do you have an RDX I could borrow? Perhaps a shitty GM product to loan me?

I don't have a GM product as a matter of fact.
Hmm...I haven't heard of it failing but maybe the blower motor or heater core?
Are those a nightmare to get to with the dash in?

On the Traverse the whole dash had to come out to replace the leaking heater core. So perhaps it's the same with this car.

I believe member roger555 used some rubber o-rings in between dash and mounting points. I remember reading it years ago, so could be wrong. But it makes sense it would allow for some flexing or movement.

Where did you source the dash at? And cost?

sweet! If you do buy a new heater core make sure it isn't damaged. I went through 2 with delray acura since USPS kept dropping the box somewhere and damaging them

I have rubber O-rings on the way, and will wrap up the HVAC tubes tomorrow to insulate them.
