I Refused to Believe I Would Be a Statistic

I took out each of the three HVAC tubes and wrapped and insulated them with 0.25" thick neoprene truck bed topper self-adhesive tape (I used two $20 rolls). I then wrapped the tubes with 3" wide Gorilla tape. For each of the screw points, I used a rubber O-ring to allow for expansion and contraction.

I insulated the HVAC plastic pieces from the new dash to increase efficiency of the HVAC system, air/heat loss, and to limit expansion and contraction.
And I still don't know if I'm going to replace the heater core. Mine is working fine, and I use the heat on the care probably about 20 or so times a year.

the only time I missed it in the Yukon was on humid mornings when it was hard to get the windshield defugged.
That's smart thinking though...
I need to do something like that for the lines going into the cabin on the jeep...that took a low priority for me
after I took the top and doors off though

You don't replace the heater core and lines because you need heat
You replace them because you don't want that bitch to leak out all your coolant
Make a big smelly mess that you continually have to address and keep adding coolant

to Majofo's point,
the reason I figured out the Yukon had a leak was the mystery disappearing coolant...
the chemical smell in the cab, the weird perspiration on the inside of the windshield and
eventually the orangish tinted staining on the carpet THROUGHOUT the fucking entire
interior of the car.
It sucked...

Just to be clear..
You're going to install a new dash
Fully prepared to put the coverlay over again
If / when it cracks
Essentially back to square one again
Except hours of your life gone
Hundreds of dollars gone
Got it
