Phase 1 will commence tonight. Taking off the center console, passenger seat, under dash plastic pieces, A-pillar trim, and glove box. Still need the car driveable tomorrow.

Phase 1 is complete.

Center console is out, passenger seat is out, under dash plastic pieces are out, and everything that can come off or get disconnected is out. The only thing that I have to do tomorrow is to disconnect all the 30 or so electrical connectors, the bolts securing the dash to the car, front seat, and the shift lever base.

Question: Do I have to remove the steering wheel, or can the entire column just get dropped and out of the way of dash removal?

IIRC, the wheel shaft comes out of it's holder and gets laid down and out of the way.

Was told by another member that the steering wheel column can move down and out of the way. I will check it out tomorrow.

I swapped my dash in the spring, I did remove steering wheel, but the column does drop out of the way once you unbolt it. the dash is relatively awkward and heavy once you get it out, so having another set of hands is helpful.

The dash itself isn't heavy, all the shit attached to it make it heavy

Thank you! I will see if I can get a neighbor to help out once I get all the connectors unplugged.

I miss my 07 TL-S. On the other hand, the interior was just far too fragile for someone as obsessive as me to care for. The metal trim on the console chipped. If it wasn’t you chipping it, it was your passenger. My dash had a tiny crack but it was just a matter of time. My seats were all hardened from the original owner and it was only a matter of time before those fell apart entirely. I replaced the seat bottoms fairly affordable but the upper seats would have been much more expensive.

I miss the car but I don’t miss the quality issues. The next owner crashed the car less than 5k miles after I sold it. RIP.

Did you remove the steering wheel or just drop the steering wheel column?

The dash is loose. Just have to figure out which bolts/nuts to loosen to drop the steering column, and then I should be able to get the dash out, with help.

Yeah Gatr, you've been on here long enough...don't just take take take, share your experience so you can be a wealth of knowledge
for the next guy.

Honestly...I wasn't nearly as proficient nor experienced at the time...it seemed daunting but in reality, how hard could it be really.

The dash is out, and the metal bar is off the old dash. The two philips head screws on each end of the dash, just above the side air vents, were a pain in the ass to get off. But then I whispered to them, "So help me Ron A, if you don't come off, I will send him to fuck you up." They came out after that.

Yeaaaaup. On my 04 the dash looks like the super hard rock/dirt cracking that happens in deserts, like A bunch of puzzle pieces lol.

Just takjng out out the tweeter covers had the dash crumbling into pieces.
