I must be nuts...

I had enough annoying issues with my 04 TL AT non-navi that I swore off Honda/Acura forever. Well it is 2 years and I usually flip my cars around then. I have looked at everything in my price range and can't find anything that gives me the features and drive factor of my TL. My 04 has 33.5k miles on it and is in good condition so I took it to Carmax and they offered me $24.4k for it. Not bad since KBB and such says $21.5. So I go back to my dealer and say I would be interestde in a 06 AT Navi if the deal were right. We doa few back and forths and he offers me $25k for my 04 and essentially give me the 06 navi with mud guards and lip spolier for a few hundred over invoice! Am I nuts or what, sine they already told me the 06 dash will fade as well and some seem to have squeaks and rattles in the 06 already. But damn , you can't beat this car for the money. At least all 06s come with Michelins, those damn EL42s are gone!

I have had no probems with my 04 TL. Just turned 22000 miles on my trip to Tampa Fl. Very minor rattles on my car. I guess I am lucky. I always like selling my cars myself. I would rather pocket that 2-3 thousand dollars in my pocket. I would like to get an 06 with navi( my only regret on my 04) Just my Anyway do what you gotta do.

Well I did it..

Picked up the 06 Navi. Nice. The Michelin's are way better than the EL42s, but not as nice the the LS-Z that Bridegstone put on my 04 for free. The Navi is sweet. Nice how tight the new car is, let;s hope the interior does not lossen up as much as my 04 did. BTW, I said lip spolier it is the truck deck lid spoiler, not lip, sorry avout that.

why dont you just wait a year and get a new 07 TL.....you know they are gonna have some kind of change and you dont wanna be stuck with 06.....if i were you i would wait a year cause i would hate to buy the new car and see them changing their models the year after.....you would be driving the "old" TL then...just my opinion...but good luck with you bro....

Typically the Japanese labels do a minor refresh in 3rd year and then replace in 5th year. They really didn't do much in 06, the 3rd year. My guess is they looked and saw they have everything they need already, are the best value for the $$ and figured they would leverage the economies of scale by keeping going with same exact stuff. They'll put their efforts into the 08/09 when they will probably do major overhaul. There is nothing in the $30-$35k range that can touch the TL. The G35, while an exceptional car is due for its major over haul next year. And honestly, the TL sales approach of the old Model T "Any color you like as long as its black" works well, only options essentially are Tranny and Navi. With G35 and all the other plates you have laundry list of options and by the time you find a car with the options you want you have blown well through $35k.

What I would have liked to see, would have been turn signals in the mirrors, increase in power for the ELS sound system and maybe a different design to the wheels and maybe an upgrade to the quality of the leather. And of course a fix for the fading dash.
I would also love to see some manufacturer offer some sort of universal SAT tuner so you can do XM, Sirius or Both without making a permanent commitment to one or the other up front.

You're right, they will have a refresh in the 07 not 06 like KeithL stated. I believe there will be little more add ons because the TL has the new IS that is out now taking some sales. The 07 will definately get a new navi similar to the 06 TSX or even better. Different wheels, headlights, bumpers, etc. Probably a bump in HP. Couple new features like maybe rain sensing wipers? They wont change too much because of the RL and need to change enough to stay in the competition. And the new infiniti G is due soon i think.
