I had a Dream...

So in my dream, My TL 08 base was lookin awesome. But what made the dream memorable was, when I went over 4k RPM, my interior lighting would change from blue to Orangeish Red. How can I make this possible? Has this been done before?

Also, I had another question regarding installing a OEM Navi into a Base TL w/ No Navi. How do I do that? And are there other clean/good looking dash options?

I had a dream..

As far as your dream goes, I am clueless on that... probably looking into a custom install on that one.

But the whole no navi to navi conversion has been done before. Here are a few threads:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/im-soo-excited-just-completed-my-non-navi-navi-conversion-diy-included-747456/ Added 10/14/2009 More scans and photos

It seems as though its very costly and time consuming. If I were you, I may look into incorporating a tablet with 3G capabilities to give a carPC feel to it. My

Good luck on the whole dream thing ...

for the navi conversion just type it into the search or google "acura tl navi conversion", it has been done. sorry to ruin your dreams but that light idea is dumb and impractical.

Thanks guys for the responses so far.
You can hate on my dream, but I mean, cant I have fun with my car? I think it would be pretty cool going from blue to red, almost like my car going into battlemode on the highway. Anyway comparing practicability, I dont suppose your "DEPO smoked tailights" Give you any gains either.

Sorry for the extra questions, but heres another.

If I buy a XLR8 Quad exhaust, would it fit in the back of my Base bumper(why wouldnt it)? Or would i need a type S. Also, is there any difference between fitment between 04-06 bumper and the 07+ bumper?

Besides, its not like the lights would change all the time, during the highway the Red lighting would be pretty dominant, and then on streets it would just be Blue base chillin, it will only be the part when I get onto the highway that will be awesome

as soon as your car upshifted on the highway your lights wouldnt be red theyd go back to blue again. according to what you want, youd need to stay at 4k+ rpm to have constant red.. so theoretically your lights would change all the time.

ever heard of "soundracer" ?? it plugs into cig lighter socket and somehow the fluctuation of voltage as your rpm constantly changes.

it detects it and transmit V10 or V12 sound notes to FM band so you can play the engine sound through your stereo.

if you can take that circuit,,

1. change all interior LEDs to switchbacks

2. hook up the soundracer circuit somehow (idk i'm not electrical engineer)

3. dream come true

How bright would these lights be while you drive? I could imagine the police not liking the idea of your car flashing blue and red while on the road.

Im assuming we are talking gauge lights though... in which case the cops wont even notice.

I dunno, find a way to do it, post a video of it in action and we shall see how this idea is.

ohhh gauge lights.....for some reason, i was thinking your entire interior lighting lol.

the new SRT Viper's cluster is pretty nice. The red viper lights up accordingly to the car's RPM.

From an electronics standpoint, your dream is remarkably simple to design, but would be difficult to actually implement. A little knob can be used to adjust what RPM level triggers the light switching. You would need some very cheap electronic components, some automotive relays and fuses, a bunch of wire, and of course, the lights! Were you thinking of the lights in the OEM locations or random locations throughout the car? If you decided to use the OEM locations, you would have to either find some multi-color bulbs that fit those sockets, or figure out a way to add an additional bulb and run an extra wire out to the OEM location.

I think that's a pretty cool idea!!! Very original. And adding a switch to turn this off/on is easy enough.

If my dash started lighting up red I'd pull over to see why my CEL is blinking. If my dash was blinking red and blue I'd probably pull over too.
