How many MPG does your TL-S go ?

I recently noticed that my 07 TL-S consumes more gas then before. I don't step on it, but most of my trips are local. I have calculated the avg MPG is 15, that is lower than the normal city mpg it can handle. I have checked tire pressure and air filter, but all seems normal. Is there anything else I need to check ? Thanks.

Is that all city? I get 20-22 combined, probably 60/40 city/hwy. I have done 28-29 all hwy before.

In far suburban miles with little to no highway my 08 automatic Type S usually averages in the 21's hand calculated. My previous 07 manual type S was typically in the 24's. 15 is bad, heck, my 5000lb+ 2012 Grand Cherokee usually averaged 19 same driving as my Type S's. I can only imagine you just live in a inner city or something.

But to answer your question, I get around 65 mpg because I shoved a small electric motor in my TL-S so it's actually a hybrid. I also use jet fuel.

I'm getting around 16-17 doing primarily city driving, short jumps. It was getting in the area of 35 when it used to do mostly highway. Just how it goes, the engine uses the vast majority of the gas on acceleration. If you do a lot of breaking instead of coasting to stop lights that will also kill your mpg.

I drive almost entirely on city, but 15 is pretty bad, even if it is pure city. And I feel the gas meter drops pretty quick.

If you don't see this on your MID, you should tow the vehicle to the dealer immediately for service.

Ouch!,,

I get 400 easy in every tank. Mostly back roads, 6 mile commute with two stops on the way to and two on the way from.

This shit is still going? No one has figured out yet that mpg is directly related to average mph. Just more and more useless estimated city% and hwy% usage when mph is what matters.

I'm new here... But I have an 07 Tl base model... Started using Motorkote and I've personally seen my mpg city wise go up 2 mpg and I've been getting like 36 mpg on the highway since I tuned the thing up. A lot of people swear by it, so I thought what the hell... Just a suggestion. Essentially it's a hyperlubricant that coats the metal and sits heavier than the motor oil. It's worked for me, thought I'd share. Anyone else try it?

I vaguely remember that one. I think it contains PTFE or it did way back in the early 2000s. I looked at their website which says nothing about the product, nothing whatsoever. It only says what it does not contain, not what it does contain. It lists moly as a bad solid along with "Teflon" but moly and zinc in the proper solution are very good friction reducers, anti wear additives. Teflon, pretty much never ever a good idea in any engine. About Teflon, of course they don't use "Teflon", DuPont was using people left and right for using their copyrighted name for the stuff but I don't see where it mentions PTFE. I'm going to ask around about this stuff but it would be hilarious if it uses PTFE but not "Teflon" lol.

These products pretty much never ever ever work. If you're lucky they won't damage your engine and you're just wasting your money. The thick ass solution will stop some rod knocks and valvetrain noise because of the thickness alone, nothing that a 60wt oil can't do. People claimed a boost in oil pressure but of course a thicker oil will boost oil pressure and you have to ask yourself what exactly do you get out of more oil pressure? The answer is not less wear.

I use an oil with lots of ZDDP and moly and a great base oil. What else could you possibly need in an oil.

I remember the UOA companies telling people to dump their oil after the test results came back after adding this stuff. I remember it lowered TBN significantly and there were rumors it could become corrosive when left in over 3,000 miles. Rumors, yes, but their website gives absolutely no info, just propaganda so I'm more inclined to listen to the rumors of people who have run it.

Hopefully I can find something out today but my guess is a blob of viscosity index improvers (bad) and not Teflon but PTFE lol.

Just bought an 08 TL-S 5AT today and I plan to run it until almost dead empty so I will check in later. I just moved up from a 05 TSX 6MT so I am expecting it to be a little less.
