You can also tell apart the years too. For example, 04 has a solid circular A on the steering wheel, 05+ has just the raised silver A. 05 has another stitch on the seat for the butt prints. 06 has silver valve stems. Other years have black. I'm sure there's other subtle differences too.

2004 vs 2005:
- 04 passenger seat belt is anchored to the bottom of B pillar, 05 is on the seat itself.
- 04 has no passenger airbag light above the hazard button, hence bigger hazard button. 05 has this light plus smaller hazard button.
- 04 front seat cushions only have 2 sections, 05 has 3.
- 04 A logo on the steering wheel isn't raised, 05 is raised
- all 04 came with either Bridgestone Turanza or Potenza (Summer tire option), 05 came with Turanza (non-nav), Mich Pilot (nav), or Potenza (summer tire option).

2004/2005 vs 2006:
- 06 has TPMS, metal valve stems, cutout on the rims.
- 2004/05 AT tire pressure: 32/32. 2006 AT tire pressure: 33/32

MT vs AT:
- MT has Brembo with larger front rotors, AT has 1-piston front calipers
- MT has larger swaybars than AT
- MT and AT have different suspension (probably different spring rates)
- different shifter and instrument panel (d'oh)
- different tire pressure recommendation

The list goes on.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that if it's a TL that has been driven, you can tell the MT by the amount of brake dust on the front wheels!

Notice I didn't characterize it at all. I have a 6MT, have not been able to wash it in over a month (been away on business since July 30), and the wheels are filthy. I doubt I'll be able to get all the brake dust off when I finally get to wash it next week.
