rear bumper lower a spec spoiler installation

When installing the rear bumper a spec spoiler valance is it really necessary to drill the four holes into the rear bumper cover. I am about to install the rear valance, have any of you guys done the installation without drilling? and if so, hows it holding up to the wheather? what kind of mounting tape was used? any input will be appreciated.

Dont

I drilled 4 and it doesnt have a true purpose. I dont think you would want that access to remove your bumper without taking out the skirt

Huh...?

The 4 screws are what support the weight of the spoiler. The scres go through the rear bumper cover an into the spoiler. If you don't use them, your spoiler will only be held on by 3M tape, 4 fenderwell screws, and 4 bottom clips.

Over time, as the tape gets old, a pothole could be the difference between you having a spoiler and NOT having a spoiler... nevermind the family of 6 in the minivan behind you that now have to dodge your spoiler as it bounds down the street.

Install the screws.

There are witness marks ( + ) on the inside of the bumper. Just a small hole in the center of + is all that's required. It's virtually idiot proof.

just make sure you get the lower ones, the upper ones are for the parking sensors

Yep yep...
Forgot to mention that. To be more clear, there are 2 rows of "+" marks. Use the lower marks. The higher marks are where you drill to install the reverse sensors.

I installed the rear a spec lower valance today, thanks for your input and yes I drilled the four holes into the rear bumper, since I do not want the guy in the minivcan with his kids to suffer from my spoiler coming off in the middle of the road. Took about two hours by myself to install, more involved than I originally thought, but worth the results. Thanks.
