Help With Tires!!!
So, I live on the East Coast in New Jersey and the winters here are horrible (especially when it snows and rains heavily). From previous threads', many people have said that the stock tires are HORRIBLE. So, I was wondering which tires would be GOOD TO HAVE (ALL SEASON TIRES - so that way I can use it in the SUMMER and WINTER). I have the body kit in my car and I really like to have a SMOOTH ride so I don't think going with LOW LOW PROFILES would benefit me. So, what is the tire size and can anyone please recommend some tires to me which would give me a smooth ride, good traction in snow/rain/summer, less torque steering and that have good warranty!!! Thanks...
I put the Pzero Nero M+S on mine and though I only have 36 miles on it they seem nice. Much quieter then the stock tires. Can't make many judgements on them so far but it is pouring here today and they do very well in the rain.

how much did you pay for those? i am not into "tires" so i don't know much about them...i've always heard that michelins' are the best and stuff like that...how do the PZERO's compare to that? are they top-quality stuff or would i have to change them every year? what dimensions do i have to look at?
I found that the Michelin MXV-4s on my 00TL were very nice, quiet and had good grip in snow and ice. Does anybody know if these tires are better than the Bridgestones that come with the car?
Pzeros in 235/45/17 (stock size) are between 129 and 141 each. They are top rated tires and easily compare with Michelin. The Pilot AS is a great tire too but was 70 per tire more. Check out tirerack and search for your size and type (summer, ultra high-perf all season, etc) and then read the ratings and reviews. The Pilot AS, Pzero Nero, ContiExtreme are all excellent high perf all seasons.

i actually went to tirerack's website and did the search and the #1 tire that fit my needs was the bridgestone one...i forget what model number to be exact...i prioritized it in this manner:
1) smooth ride
2) handling
3) tread life
but i am not sure whether those bridgestones are different than the ones that i currently have on the car...any comments/suggestions?

Here we go again! Try the tires out you will find that the "horrible" labels is a bunch of crap. I have driven them very aggresively in both rain and dry and they are wholy accepatable for this high performance vehicle. Do not in any way switch them for Michelin MXM (previous model tires) Those truly suck. I have also used them in snow, where they behave so so. The point is there is no W rated tire that drives well in snow. The MXM's on my previous car although rated for mud snow had O traction in snow. There is no need to chuck these tires till you get your moneys worth out of them, They are probably one of the most expensive tires in the market. So I would recommend driving them till they wear out, if your dissatified, then swap them.

Does anyone have any first-hand experience with the stock tires in the snow? I'm planning on doing what vtechbrain said, keeping my tires until they give me a reason not to.
They seem to be fine, but I want to know if their "all-season" rating is truly warranted when encountering snow and ice. If not, I'd like to start planning on some all-seasons that perform well in the summer, and decently in the winter.

The tires that come with the '04TL are Bridgestone Turanza EL42's. I like them. I don't find them to be noisy and they handle quite well under dry and wet conditions. It's been raining here lately and I tested them on the wet conditions and was satisfied with their performance. Snow conditions is an unknown for me. I'm concerned with how they'll perform. Second generation TL owners in my area have been happy with their car's performance in the snow. The '04 TL is a different car with different tires, so we'll just have to see.
what about the summer tires they provide as an option, anyone drive with these in the rain or snow? I had summer tires on my prelude and drove in the snow and did not have that big of a problem as I thought
